Declaration of anti-fascists of Kazan (Russia) on sentence of Artur Valeev
and Renat Teregulov
14th of May Vahitovskiy district court of Kazan sentenced Artur Valeev to
4 years in prison, and gave Renat Teregulov a probational sentence of two
years and six months.
12th of November 2008 there was a fight between anti-fascists and Nazis in
Kazan. Between 5 and 6 PM, at shopping mall "Kol'co", two anti-fascists
were approached by 12 Nazis who made threats. Soon antifascists managed to
distract attention of Nazis, and escape from mall. They managed to walk
away some 500 meters, when they encountered Nazis again. A fight resulted,
during which one of the antifascists was forced to fight for his life with
a knife.
As a result of the fight, two Nazis received light wounds from a knife.
Valeev reported to a police station voluntarily. After two weeks, wounded
Nazis were allright, they were seen in a company of their far-right
friends drinking beer. But during investigation, police and prosecutor
distorted truth, claiming that anti-fascists attacked Nazis from behind
their back and with knives, which is a lie, as both sides were involved in
the fight.
Police also surpassed thier authority - during investigation anti-fascists
activists were illegally detained and beaten up. Court and prosecutor took
an obviously pro-fascist position. Those who witnessed investigation and
court, got impression that court is not attempting to reach a just
decision, but is fulfilling agenda of persecution and repression of
antifascists.
Much of the case was trumped-up, "victims" do not even deny that they are
fascists, and judge Ahmetshin even publicly stated his position: "During
investigation it was proven, that victims Il'in and Kochubinskiy are part
of unformal fascist movement... Valeev and Teregunov committed a crime
against society by attacking victims. Pay attention, that it was a fight
between two sides, before which there was an argument and threats towards
anti-fascists from side of the Nazis.
We consider sentence unjust, and case mostly fabricated. It is a clear
attempt to persecute participants of the anti-fascist movement, part of
the general tendency, proven by completely fabricated case against Aleksey
"Shkobar" Olesinov and persecution of antifascists in Tyumen, Ufa, St.
Petersburg, Naberezhnye Chelny and other cities in Russia. Current regime
considers any civic initiative to be against its interests.
