Dear comrades,

I want to put a .avi movie on a dvd, I got the matching .srt subtitles allready, but I dont know how I can put them together on a dvd.

I got Nero ofcourse but it doesn't seem to have a function which put .srt subtitles on the dvd.

Does anyone have any idea on how to put subtitles on dvd's? Thank you in advance

"Buy"(cough) a program called ConvertXtoDvd
Put the srt file in the same folder as your movie with nothing else, then threw the program just go to that folder and add the movie, with the movie subtitles will be automatically added with it, and just click burn! This is what i use at least and it is very helpful.:)

Thanks, I *bought* it (don't you just love online shopping?) and its busy now burning, although the video preview doesnt show the subtitles yet. Actually the movie is split in two parts which both are being converted to dvd right about now. The two .srt files are included in the same map as the two .avi files are. Is everything just gonna work out now?

I think so :p
In the preview it never shows the subtitles so no need to worry about that, but as it seems its most probably going to make it.

Hmm it seems like it has failed. I can see no subtitles nor select them when I play the dvd.

You have to manually add them when the introducing thing comes up.You should go to settings-> subtitles and click on the ones you added and ok.

Instead of resorting to propertarian closed source software, why not give the free DVD Flick (http://www.dvdflick.net) a try. It can do what you're trying to do, so should be sufficient for your needs...There's a pictorial walk-through of how to use it here (http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html).

Though doing this every time would be inefficient at best. Either procure a DVD player that has support for XviD/DivX and softsubs, so you can watch your avi files without needing to convert them, or just hook up a computer to the TV monitor...
