Punx for Peace

Stop The War, the UK peace group, is going to release a compilation of anti-war songs. It will include Billy Bragg, Ginger Tom, Alabama 3, Chumbwamba, Ani Difranco, etc.
If I made up my own CD, what songs should I put on it?

For a bit of craic I'd put this on the cd.
Sung to the tune of: "If You're Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands"
If we cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets hurt your Mama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are Saudi
And the bank takes back your Audi
And the TV shows are bawdy,
Bomb Iraq.
If the corporate scandals growin', bomb Iraq.
And your ties to them are showin', bomb Iraq.
If the smoking gun ain't smokin'
We don't care, and we're not jokin'.
That Saddam will soon be croakin',
Bomb Iraq.
Even if we have no allies, bomb Iraq.
From the sand dunes to the valleys, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections;
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.
While the globe is slowly warming, bomb Iraq.
Yay! the clouds of war are storming, bomb Iraq.
If the ozone hole is growing,
Some things we prefer not knowing.
Though our ignorance is showing!
Bomb Iraq.
So here's one for dear old daddy, bomb Iraq,
From his favourite little laddy, bomb Iraq.
Saying no would look like treason.
It's the Hussein hunting season.
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

"No war between nations, no peace between classes!"
As were talking specifically about anti-war songs I'm going to go with tommy gun, by The Clash...
TOMMY GUN
YOU AIN'T HAPPY LESS YOU GOT ONE
TOMMY GUN
AIN'T GONNA SHOOT THE PLACE UP
JUST FOR FUN
MAYBE HE WANTS TO DIE FOR THE MONEY
MAYBE HE WANTS TO KILL FOR HIS COUNTRY
WHATEVER HE WANTS, HE'S GONNA GET IT!
TOMMY GUN
YOU BETTER STRIP IT DOWN FOR A CUSTOM RUN
TOMMY GUN
WAITING IN THE AIRPORT 'TILL KINGDOM COME
AN' WE CAN WATCH YOU MAKE IT
ON THE NINE O'CLOCK NEWS
STANDING THERE IN PALESTINE LIGHTING THE FUSE
WHATEVER YOU WANT, YOU'RE GONNA GET IT
TOMMY GUN
YOU'LL BE DEAD WHEN YOUR WAR IS WON
TOMMY GUN
BUT DID YOU HAVE TO GUN DOWN EVERYONE?
I CAN SEE IT'S KILL OR BE KILLED
A NATION OF DESTINY HAS GOT TO BE FULFILLED
WHATEVER YOU WANT, YOU'RE GONNA GET IT!
TOMMY GUN
YOU CAN BE A HERO IN AN AGE OF NONE
TOMMY GUN
I'M CUTTING OUT YOUR PICTURE FROM PAGE ONE
I'M GONNA GET A JACKET JUST LIKE YOURS
AN' GIVE MY FALSE SUPPORT TO YOUR CAUSE
WHATEVER YOU WANT, YOU'RE GONNA GET IT!
BOATS AN' TANKS AND PLANES, IT'S YOUR GAME
KINGS AN' QUEENS AN' GENERALS LEARN YOUR NAME
I SEE ALL THE INNOCENTS, THE HUMAN SACRIFICE
AND IF DEATH COMES SO CHEAP
THEN THE SAME GOES FOR LIFE!

I love the clash, but I didn't really think
"Tommy Gun" had any lyrics.
That's odd...I'll have to listen to it again
btw, I live within 10 minutes of where the inventor of the Tommy Gun was born, not that I'm proud or whatever.

Yep thems the lyrics....
Mind you as with most of the clash songs there's so much energy it takes a while to decipher them!

Give me an S
Give me a C
Give me a A
Give me a M
What's that spell? SCAM!!
Come on all of you dumbed down men.
The son of a Bush needs your help again.
He's got us all in a terrorist jam.
When daddy sent chemicals off to old Saddam, so
Roll up your sleeves for vaccines in your arm,
They don't tell you that their doing you harm!
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
Most people know it's a scam, next stop is old Baghdad.
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Well, we've got no minds to question why, whoopee we're all gonna die
Now prepare yourselves generals for the big blast
India and Pakistan are heating up fast
Why you should go out and kill Afghans is
Cause the only good Taliban is one that's dead.
They say global peace can only be won
When they blast us all to kingdom come
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
The clueless just don't give a damn, where the hell
is Pakistan?
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Well with Prozac minds we don't care to know why,
whoopee we're all gonna die.
Now come on Wall street don't be slow,
why man, this is war so go-go-go
There's plenty of big fortunes to be made,
supplying the Chinese with the tools of its trade.
Just hope and pray that if they start the bombing,
they'll drop them on Osama Bin Laden.
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
The clueless just don't give a damn
Wag-the-dog at old Saddam.
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Well, we've got no time to wonder why, whoopee
we're all gonna die.
So come on mothers throughout the land
pack your boys off to old Baghdad
come on fathers don't hesitate
send your girls too before their wedding date
Be the first ones on your block to have your kids
come home in a box
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
The clueless just don't give a damn, about the oil in Afghanistan
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Well, Rockefeller says the population's too high, and half of us need to die.
So come on all of you dumbed down men,
That son of a Bush needs your help again,
He's got us all in a terrorist jam.
Ousting daddy's partner - old Saddam,
So don't roll up your sleeves for any shots in your arm. It's just smarter to
stay on the farm. That's all.
Don't you know it's a scam!

Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds —
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Huh!
Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Just a suggestion: Aggro, leftist punk probably would shut people's minds to the message of the cd. You know, the "Those Dumb Punks" mentality. So I'd stick with Dylan and Lennon, and U2 "Sunday Bloody Sunday"
