Nick Griffin on BBC's Politics Show (about 23 mins into it).
Its interesting I think, not ground breaking, not leftist but the opening question is worth a giggle if nothing else.

I'm sorry if your not British and it doesn't work, perhaps Sean can find a way for you foreign types to watch it.

His answers were very shallow, but he is a persuasive and confident speaker, and that's something that could swing a lot of people. The basic flaw about his understanding of what makes someone "ethnically British" is that almost all of the white people who live in Britain today have absolutely no direct genetic or even cultural relationship to Britain's original inhabitants, as, like every other country, the current British population is the product of successive waves of immigration - not only in the form of post-war migration, which resulted in non-white peoples coming to settle in Britain, but also historic events such as the Norman Conquest, and if we want to look even further back in history, the Roman invasions, which displaced the Anglo-Saxon population in favour of new groups that were more closely linked with other European nations such as France.

What I want to know is why the BNP gets so much publicity despite being such a small party. These kind of shows, even if they do make Griffin look like a twat, play into the BNP's hands by helping to spread their message.
If no media had ever reported on the BNP, or took any notice of them, most British people wouldn't have even heard of them, let alone be voting for them.
But it's hard to open up a national newspaper these days and not find at least one story relating to the BNP in it. There's no such thing as bad publicity etc.
The Green Party has 2 MEP's, and 2 members on the London assembly, making them the more popular party, and yet they don't get even half the coverage the BNP does.
There would be no worry that the BNP would get any seats in Europe today if the media didn't keep banging on about it. Of course, it's too late now- the word is already out about the BNP, but these interviews, far from reducing the BNP's chances in the Euro elections, actually increases it by making the racist segment of society aware that they are standing for elections.
Even if 90% of people watching that show came out with the idea that Griffin was a cock, all it takes is the 10% or so of society who hold racist views to think "yeah, he's right", and the BNP will get seats, it's as simple as that.
Socialist parties never get anything liek the coverage the BNP does either. And it's only going to get worse if they get MEP's elected. :cursing:

I agree entirely.
Toa dd to this point, acts of violence such as attacking BNP members which has occured in the past also benefit the BNP. The BNP often claim they are a legitimate party who are treated unequally compared to other political parties.

They thrive on controversy, think about how much free publicity they got when Griffin went on trial.

I don't think it is possible. Is there an audio only version?
He was doomed from the first question.
"So who do you hate more, Jews or Muslims?"
What was his answer?

An interesting view of British history, I always thought that the Anglo-Saxons came after the Romans, but then I suppose that I didn't go to a top university.

Was that really necessary? The bit about "displacing the Anglo-Saxon population" was in reference to the Norman Conquests, not the Roman invasions. Poor sentence structure on my part.

he is so full of shit, he doesent even admit he hates jews or muslims even though they are quoting anit-semitic and anti-islamic statements he has made.
The man is delusional

The man is delusional
He's not delusional at all, he is simply lying to the public about what his party really stands for to sneak into power. See the video in MilitantAnarchist's thread. (http://www.revleft.com/vb/bbc-t108704/index.html)
