Hello RevLeft.

I found the forum recently while doing research for a school assignment, and I decided to join.

My name is Michael, I'm from Perth, Western Australia, and I have been a leftist for approximately a year.

I'm only 14 years old, but I hope that you guys don't automatically judge me according to my age, especially considering this is a generally egalitarian forum.

I know the basics of Communism, Anarchism, Stalinism and Marxism but i'm yet to learn the differences between Leninism, Trotskyism, and other leftist ideologies. I consider my knowledge regarding leftist ideologies limited, so for that reason I don't feel I have a specific ideology yet, although I am leaning towards Marxism.

I'm really interested in learning more about leftist ideals. I plan on reading The Communist Manifesto, I went to my local bookstore last week, but they didn't have a copy in stock.

I consider myself egalitarian, I judge nearly everyone on an individual basis, not based on their race, religion, etc. I think my only exception is when it comes to facists, national socialists...well anybody far-right really.

I'm an Athiest, but I was christened Greek Orthodox.

I come from a working class family, and I have been employed for about 18 months now.

I'm 100% anti-facist. Can't stand facist scum.

Unfortunately, I am not a member of a leftist organisation, but I hope to join one in the near future.

I think that about covers it all.

Welcome Comrade! I am glad to see you are planning on reading the Manifesto, I first read it when I was your age! Great book! I hope you can find one, the paper back are usually cheaper. Feel free to ask questions comrade! I also recommend you read The Revolution Betrayed by Trotsky, as well as What is to be Done by Lenin and his other works.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, troubles with our internet, and I havn't been able to get online.

I've been working since I have been legally able to. I'm turning 15 this year, and I started pretty close to my 13th birthday.

My parents aren't exactly wealthy, so I have to pay for my own stuff. Now that im working I'm pitching in on bills and things aswell so its pretty hard to save up for things I want.

I work at my uncle's deli. I clean, cook, stock shelves...pretty much anything that needs to be done, and I get paid $7.80 an hour.

I guess it's allright money for my age, but it's pretty hard trying to save up for more expensive things like Ipods. I've been there for nearly two years and my pay has gone up around 30 cents. I think I might ask for a raise soon.

I ussualy work weekends and school holidays, it's not really worth it to work after school because it's about a half hour drive from where I live. I ussualy work 8 hour shifts, both days of the weekend. I've done a few 14 hour shifts (luckily we sell redbull:lol:) when people have called in sick. They're not fun at all.:p
