I think John was the most concerned with being an artist out of all of them, and he also had pretty solid politics. Paul is a talented musician, but his talents always lay more toward the commercial end of music. I don't understand what was it with George and the Hindu mysticism, but I could forgive that if he had much to distinguish himself as a guitarist or a solid musician otherwise, but he really does not. And Ringo... well, I don't really think he had that much to do with the band's success, as most drummers don't.

Maybe Lennon (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/carousel/pob12.html)- though it seems like he turned into a bit of a cock by the end. I like music by all of them.

In the conventional sense neither can Johnny Rotten, but I dig him too.

I like him to. But Yoko's voice sounds like fingernails running down a chalk board to me.

It's more then her singing.
Listen to the music.
It's sorta Devo-esque music that her avant-noise vocals are perfect for.

I went for Lennon & McCartney because their relationship really was the core of the Beatles and neither were as good without the other - although undoubtedly Paul suffered most from their separation. His post-Beatles output really does stink.

EDIT:

Pirate Utopian thanks for the Plastic Ono band clip - it rocks. Reminds me of some of the more adventurous post-punk stuff like The Slits and The Pop Group and ATV/The Good Missionaries.

I voted for Lennon. I do have a lot of respect for Harrison though and I like his music a lot. I think his talent is often overlooked

Yeah Yoko's influence on post-punk often goes unnoticed.
A good example of her influence would be PiL's Death Disco.

I don't like The Beatles, but I'll go with Ringo Starr because:

a) His name amuses me.
b) Nobody ever talks about him.
c) This song:

It has to be John. It can't not be John. If I were at Live 8, I would have tried to get the audience to chant 'We Want John!'

:)

I voted for George because he wrote "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", and because of his album "All Things Must Pass".

I voted for Harrison. He was kind of the underdog, in that he was only allowed
two tracks per album. When the Beatles broke up in 1970, he releases a monster
three record-set (All Things Must Pass) on which there were several top hits.

John Lennon was massively over rated, pretty much all bar a few of the best Beatles songs were written by Paul.

Yea they really piss all over Working class hero, Imagine and Merry Xmas War is over.

Actually, it was just after xmas and I regretted not putting up a 'Merry Xmas John and Yoko' sign somewhere, and it'll be pointless the xmas coming, because the war is nearly over.

I love Harrison for this exact reason. His songs shine through on every Beatles Album

also worth noting, since his sell out to Norwich Union, Ringo has become a bit of a knob. Apparently on his webpage he said that he wont be opening any more fan mail and that it will all go in the bin.

Good fan loyalty there Ringo!
