Something just happened to me recently that I was puzzled about. I applied for a job at a golf course (yes, the guy who decried golf as a bourgeois decadence has resorted to finding a job at a golf course :rolleyes:), and I was told that the location I applied to (there are two locations on the same parcel of land) already had "too many Asian workers" by the manager there, who was Asian himself.

Now he didn't make it clear whether he thought he had too many, or if the patrons thought there were too many. I'm also unsure as to whether there is some sort of ethnic ratio that is supposed to be met by law. But regardless, I thought it was really weird - I used to work at Subway and pretty much all the employees were Asian (mostly Indian) so...

He is a racist and you should report him. He can not refuse to hire you on the grounds that you are Asian! There is no quota laws for race in business, only case of such is in colleges.

Well I don't think it's the owner himself, I'm pretty sure it's clients at the golf course who complain to him. Would it still be his fault for bending to them, or are the patrons to blame?

That must have been pretty bad for you. Hope you find a good job soon.

It must be noted though, no matter what reason he did that for, he's either a racist twat himself or pandering to racist pieces of shit, you shouldn't let that horrible kind of racism go unaccounted for, you should, as the other guy said - report him straight away.

Well to be fair, it's a band-aid solution that does nothing to address the underlying problem.

It's all well and good to have affirmative action, but it seems to be a waste if at the same time no effort is being made to improve education in predominantly ethnic minority neighbourhoods.

Getting a job or a place in university is only a small part of realising one's potential.

Right. When you have no substantial opinion, just call the other person a racist.

By the way, according to affirmative action laws, quotas are illegal. Perception, unmatched.

Dude, he broke the law by telling you that. No employer can deny you a job based upon your race, religion, or sexual orientation. Report him.
