Well I went down to a gas station in my town yesterday. They have a bulletin board there so I took a look at it and apparently there is a new church in my town and the people that run it are claiming to be the reincarnate of Jesus (the priest) The Virgin Mary (the priest's wife) and St. Peter (their son).
Anybody have any people crazier then this near them?

Damn. No. however, most right wing Christians are crazy. Plus I don't remember Christians believing in reincarnation.:tt2:

I don't think its the first time someone has claimed such things, who cares.
If you want to do something about it, then rip up the board, if not whatever don't waste your time.

Some people are just begging to be ignored. What they're claiming is not only ridiculous and irrational but I assume it's also offensive to real Christians.

Are you sure this was a serious bulletin? It could have been put up as a joke. The logic is flawed. For one, Christians don't believe in reincarnation and two, how would this couple have a son when the wife is the Virgin Mary? Makes no sense to me.
How come people always flip and think they're Jesus? Why not Buddha? Particularly in America, where more people resemble Buddha than Jesus. 'Ah'm BUDDHA!' 'You're Bubba!' 'Ah'm Buddha now..All I gotta do is change 3 letters on ma belt...'

EDIT: This probably belongs in Chitchat actually.

Someone please answer me this:
- Is it more *pathetic* (and laughable) what these types are doing, or more sad and self-dehumanizing?
- Have these types found themselves a primo racket, and are enjoying all the perks of a self-founded cult (like the premise of the movie 'Postal' -- good premise but then the movie quickly bogs down and goes flat), or have they drunk their own Kool-Aid and are actually living in the hell of their beliefs?

There were a lot of these types during the "dark" and middle ages, but they'd typical ride into town naked on a donkey, convince people they were the messiah and then go on a killing spree of local feudal lords, knights, etc. Those are the kind of crazy messiahs we need.

It wasn't a bulletin they just typed up on their computer it looked like they had them ordered or something it was all fancy paper.
Also yes it seems quite weird if Jesus reincarnate has a baby with Virgin Mary reincarnate when Virgin Mary is Jesus' mother and supposed to be a virgin and stranger yet their son is supposed to be Jesus reincarnates best disciple.
Crazy people they gave my grandma their card while she was at the gas station the other day.

Also we have a cult around where I live they have like a huge complex and an even bigger basement. The permits say their basement is 3 times bigger then the building above it and they own like half the gas stations (not the one I'm talking about) in the city like 8 miles away from my town.
They don't pay their taxes though and can almost never sell gas because of it.
The cult actually put out a hit on the city mayor it was quite funny actually the FBI was investigating but they stopped.

Selling snakeoil to religious nutters is always something I'm torn about. On the one hand, if someone is stupid enough to try and cure cancer by sprinkling holy water on their neck then nothing of value was lost. On the other, its always the poor and desperate that are exploited by these things. Someone either needs to give this guy a medal or drown the bastard!

Ha Ha ha:lol:....
It is sad, the religion teaches "Greed is the root of all evil" and "It would be easier for a camel to fit through an eye of an needle than for a rich man to get into heaven" is now buying into consumerism! It is really sad, that Christianity has fallen this far. Fundamentalist always tell me "read your bible". However, bases on that shit, I would respond, "you should read yours!". Can I get an AMEN!!!

We have a small cult/religion that started out of Puerto Rico who's leaders believe to be the incarnation of the "holy spirit." There's even a neighborhood that I've been told is where many of these "Mitas" live.

We also have this other weirdo who seems more "big" in Florida but is from Puerto Rico.

Not to get serious in chit chat but....
Religious distress is at the same time the expression of real distress and the protest against real distress. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is required for their real happiness. The demand to give up the illusion about its condition is the demand to give up a condition which needs illusions.
The people he exploits are poor, sick, often elderly, uneducated, people lonely and terrified of a world that has shortchanged them and that they don't understand. My grandmother lost her husband and then fell ill herself, living in the US and not even speaking English. It's no wonder to me that she gave chunks of her social security pension to these 'faith healing' bastards.
I'd like to see this asshole and everyone like him put up against a wall.
edit: btw Sean don't think I'm guilt tripping you or anything, I get your humor
