Is the new age of digital radio and tv the death of pirate radio and tv? or would it make it easier???
Even though pirate radio isnt really used any more, and deffinatly not pirate tv, it could be, and probibly should be... I think we all need an alternative to the comercial bollocks that pollutes our airwaves now... Would be a great way to communicate with people for spreading a message...
Any ideas?

This is one thing I'm a bit concerned about actualy. I have no idea how digital TVs and radios work. Gone are the circuit diagrams that allow somebody at home to build thier own trasmitters and in are the highly dificult to replicate microchips. You cant sit at home with a soldering iron and build a microchip and after that you'd have to build your own interfacing for your pc to program the damn thing and then even then you'd have to be some kind of major whiz to write a program to match the standards exactly to what's required to trasmit a signal.
On the flip side of things, I'm guessing that analogue stations are going to be taken off the air, freeing up the analogue airwaves to possibily unrestricted analogue broadcast to whoever still maintains analogue sets. I just cant see the goverment filling the airwaves with static just to spite pirates and I certainly cant imagine them cracking down on it as hard.
Maybe we'll just have to wait and see where this goes.

pirate radio is still alive in Ireland. I am involved with a pirate radio station in my city. The licencing system is a joke, pirate radio is the only way to play the music that many people want to hear

apparentley you'd need a transmission rig worth like 400,000 dollars to have pulled off what the guy did! madness

I remember when it happened, (I was only a kid) it must have been big though as BBC and ITN news covered it.

Technology has outgrown pirate radio and the internet etc is probably more effective for ordinary people to disseminate the same content that pirate radio/tv would have. It's not quite as romantic as a boat with a radio transmitter anchored in international waters - but with things like youtube and podcasts, it's actually possible to reach a wider audience as the internet is global. People will listen if you have something to say and can convey it well.

But with the internet you only get people who search for something like it

not necessarily, there's hyperlinking and all. I think shock sites illustrate that we all come across things we're not looking for...
I don't have much faith with anyone on the radical left running a pirate radio or television station, it'd probably come out very contrived and cliche with no mass appeal. Hell, a lot of left-wing organisations (this forum included) have even failed to maintain a respectable youtube channel...

Does anyone know any good sites for watching streamed TV and movies on the internet?
I used to use TV Links. That was the best- until they shut it down.
Now i use surf the channel, but there are a lot of shows missing, and you have to use mega video, which only lets you watch for free for 50 mins (and they have links to chinese sites, but those take forever to load).
Streaming TV is the way to go! No commercials, no downloading.
