5. What kind of political system did the 1993 Constitution institute?
6. what are the powers of the Russian president?
7. what checks are there on the powers of the president?
8. what powers does the Russian parliament have?
9. how are party systems organised in Russia?
10.how do the public perceive parliament and political parties?
11. how has marketisation impacted on democratic transition?
12. what forms of inequality exist in Russian society? Statistics please?
13.how would you characterise civil society and democratic participation in Russia?
14. how would you characterise the Russian political system?
15. how does Russia’s political system compare to other transitional societies (e.g. China)
16. How does Russia compare to other postcommunist political systems (either in the FSU or CEE/EU accession countries)?
