amateur guitarists - random thread

I'm pretty crap at playing the guitar, although i've been trying for about 4 years. Recwently I've been having a crack ar Metalicca's Enter Sandman and it's so cool! The solo in the middle is a bit hard and getting up to speed will take time but it will be awesome when I can!

Anyone in the same kind of position as me? I expected all the guitarists here are really talented, oh well!

i have the problem of motivation, cause im teaching myself(BAD IDEA) hehe except on bass.

ive been playin for almost two years now! i like to think im fairly decent thatnks to RATM's tom morello for motivation. Ill consider myself OK when i can play Metallica's "One" or Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker."

Don't bother, I learned to play "Eruption" and I thought that I was pretty bad-ass. I never learned anything like that again. I realized that playing fast, differcult shit doesn't usually even sound good.

I've been playing guitar for about a year. I think I'm pretty good, but thats only because I got private lessons from a teacher. But learning by yourself is also a good thing, but I really suck at it. Enter the Sandman was like the 4th song I learned. My first was Smells Like Teen Spirit :P

playing from the heart is great and all but when you are playing c chords from the heart is a bit boring. Fast shit always sounds good. Unless you don't know what your doing. Eruption is an emperor song right? sounds like a black metal song.

I think it just takes a lot of practice if you want to play good. Playing from the heart is great if your good but if you suck, you might just want to practice a little more.

been playing almost two years or so, never taken a real lesson, just been playing from tabs and the like.

Been able to play enter sandman for a while, forget when i learned it, but the solo is still one of my favorite.
Can play one not too bad untill the main solo, i just cant stretch my fingers that far, as i remember the beginning has you pulling off from the 22nd fret to the 15th to the 12th, thats too big a stretch.

Smells like teen spirit was the first song i learned as well.

Havn't played so much lately, though im learning more power metal types, real hard stuff, tryed to learn a children of bodom song, gave up, learned some of the trooper by iron maiden today.

Good stuff.
