Let's say a communist party came to power democratically tomorrow. What do we feel the best way to progress from that point would be and what would be the immediate policies you would implement be?

Since communist party would have so much support I guess class conscience would also be extremely high.Party should socialize means of production and establish workers control over economy through their councils, disband police and military and support workers in organizing their own militia.I guess that De Leonists think communism should be similarly established.

Well, let's not assume we are all inherently incorruptible. I'm not one to agree that power corrupts always, but we can see how many dictators got their start as low-level revolutionaries and worked their way up.

Perhaps the problem is this old traditional way of going about revolution, rallying behind some glorious "leader". Let's not put individuals on pedestals when our goal is the liberation of the working class.

What should be done, though, if a communist party was elected democratically? Screw the gradualist nonsense or we'll be headed to the same chavista conundrum with 10 years of reforms. It should be a revolution, smashing the capitalist state and creating a socialist society from below, with economic power in the hands of the workers.

If I was in power i'd go to the local gift shop and buy a shirt saying 'My friend was in power and all i got was this lousy t-shirt'.

I'd then go tour the local scenery, maybe have a picnic in a field and at night i'd sample power's nightlife, go to a few clubs, try the local spirits, generally mill around.

Your nation may still have in its treasury the remnants of the capitalist financial structure - gold, other precious metals, paper money from nations around the world. Spend it - as soon as possible. Buy commodities - those things you need to survive and buy any equipment you need to produce the goods you need. That is the real wealth to people who actually have to do the work.

What happens in the rest of the world as the people of your nation are suddenly flooding it with various currencies and "precious" metals, while snapping up real goods? People can probably be trusted when times are easy and when prosperity reigns, but when times are tough, promises are much easier to break than the laws of survival. This is what makes self-reliance of an economy important. This is why local industry and agriculture should be protected. Productively ability is the real source of wealth of the nation.

However, natural disasters also occur. While the world as a whole may be fairly stable, the area around you is much more prone to random fluctuations of climate and geology. Thus self-reliance is not the entirety of a secure economy, but merely the supporting structure. The secondary source of security is prosperity in other geographical locations. The more prosperous others are, the more likely they will come to your aid in times of trouble. The more they have to thank you for their prosperity, the more likely they will come to your aid. Again, merely being creditors to their debt is not enough. Nations are sovereign, whether anarchist or authoritarian. They can break their promises - they can ignore any legalistic claims to debt. It is the general goodwill that can be fostered between two nations or people that will be your salvation in case your own self-reliance fails.

The question is very short, provides no context, etc. It has loads of problems. And, being short, (and stupid) it attracts short (and stupid) answers. Such as, "ban golf", "smoke a bowl", etc.

Dissolve the party and hand over power to the workers? Nice, short, meaningless answer, just like the question.

How do you go about dissolving the party? One person stamping their iron rule on everyone else? What about the capitalists? Is the army going to object?

It's a stupid question, and people who ask such questions should be told that.
