I haven't upgraded my computer in about 4 years, and have been scraping together some pennies to replace the key components of my PC. Hpowever, these days I have no idea what is good and what is compatable.

So could any of you guys give me a hand?

I want to replace my mother board, processor, memory and graphics card and have £300 with which to do so. Any suggestions?

No. At least, not good ones.

I would say, you don't need more than 1GB RAM, you don't need the latest and greatest everything else etc.

But then again, what do I know? I get by on 512 MB RAM... I haven't been keeping up with what is hot in computer hardware for years.

Are you handy with overclocking? You can save a couple hundred quid by getting certain overclock-friendly processors.

What are you going to use it for? If you game a lot then you're going to need more high end components than if you watch movies or just use it to get on the internet, for example.

I saw a fantastic article on building a rather high-end gaming PC for under $500 Let me find it and link it for you when I get home. You'll find something useful in there, I'm sure.
