Visteon workers, who have spent the past month occupying and picketing their factories in protest at their sacking have won an enormous victory!

After being sacked at 20 minutes notice, workers in Basildon, Belfast and Enfield occupied their factories. Had they done nothing, workers would have lost everything but statutory redundancy. But by fighting back, they have won an extra 64 weeks redundancy pay and full pay for the time on strike.

Good on them for their inspirational protests. This isn't an isolated event, they were never interested in simply securing financial compensation for themselves, this was about standing up for yourself. During this time of crisis the working class will be hit hard and too often we take it. What an excellent example of what can be secured when you fight back.

YAY! Go Visteon-workers! :thumbup1:
I was worried for a while there that they were going to get messed around by Ford even more and they'd get the police in, but it's great news that they've suddenly just changed thier tune like this.

an important lesson for us all.
bet you don't see any cover in the media though, just as they ignored the strike, so they will ignore the concessions won by striking, you tube and personal messaging time, i think, tell everyone you know, direct them to all sites and left parties/ papers with coverage.
even in the depths of despair................HOPE can be realised!
