Church Going Christians are more likely to Support Torture, a recent poll finds. (http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/04/30/religion.torture/)
If we didn't have Jesus how would we know what is Right and what is Wrong? Well, apparently torture is okay some times... even if it is God's son on the cross?

With "in god's name" as justification, anything can be supported...

How about "in the people's name?" A lot's been supported with those words, too. ;)
It's never about God or the people or the overarching philosophy. It's the individuals making their decisions about what's best for their lives. What they use for a crutch is ancellary. It's a real problem for any sort of collectivist theory.

True, but the people can actually contradict that rhetoric... whereas we haven't heard a peep out of god in, well, forever.

Some would say He wrote an entire Book on what He thinks about things. :D

The point is that the an American who goes to church is more likely to support torture in some circumstances, thus, and apparently, contradicting the who christian notion of 'forgiveness' and the precept the religion brings with it 'morality.'
Though we should all know this by now but it is nice to have some statistics to go along with our claims.

In America Christians are more likely to be right wing, or at least right wingers are more likely to be Christian. Right wingers are more likely to support torture. You would need to do the same survey in countries where there isn't such a divide politically speaking between Christians and non-Christians to find out whether it is actually Christianity playing any role here.

Well, Christians think humans were made in God's image, and God has frequently been portrayed as a sadistic motherfucker of universal proportions, so...

the people voted for bush because "he prayed". When he tortured it didn't take much for them to support him.
