Yeah I know I had a feeling there wouldn't be many Motown fans on here. I was thinking about doing a Funk thread aswell, you should do it for sure. I love funk as much as I love Motown.

I love funk, love Motown. Personally, I enjoy my funk with just music and no lyrics.
But in talking about Motown, you are all completely forgetting THE most important part: the dudes who played the music and I mean ALL THE MUSIC that came out of Motown. I'm talking of course, about the Funk Brothers. If you don't know who I'm talking about, check out the movie "Standing in the Shadows of Motown." They had the greatest bass player of all time, James Jamerson (check out my post in the "Favorite bassist?" thread (http://www.revleft.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1414904&postcount=24) for some videos).

The Funk Brothers are absolutely amazing. Any Motown song you know has probably been played by the funk brothers.

Oh yeah, I'll be all over that. James Brown, Jimmy Castor Bunch, Sapo, Sly and the Family Stone, Lynn Collins.....................:thumbup:
As for Motown, I love listening to it when it comes on the radio, but I don't know that much. However, I don't think anyone's mentioned Al Green yet. He's a bit later than most, but he was still with Motown and I think he falls in that genre. Here's just one classic of many:

"I'm So Tired of Being Alone" and "Love and Happiness" are two other CLASSICS.
