It's shocking that Giggs hasn't won this award before, but that he won it this year is a farce. What does everyone think on who should have won it?

Personally i think that Van der Sar or Gerrard should have won it.

Giggs certainly should have won it before but not this year, a career achievement award or something similar would have been more appropriate.

He has only made 12 starts and regardless of how well he played in those 12 games his contribution to the team cannot be said to be anywhere near as much as Gerrards.

Van der Sar did not really deserve it, whilst he did keep 13 clean sheets in a row (Newcastle stopped that :lol:) he does have an awesome defence in front of him, if Kirkland or Carson had done it then yes they should have got the award but not a Man U player.

The thing about the awards is that they were voted by fellow players and managers and not some comitte or Sun readers so it does sort of make the award more valid. Still the disproportionate amount of Man Utd players in the list surprised me, Ferdinand for instance has been arse this season.

Giggs deserves it for a career of achievement that has not been acknowledged in such a way before.
I know the award should be for the best player of the year, but Giggs has been brilliant season after season and brings alot to the team

I agree, it's a farce he hasn't won it before, but that just highlights further the fact he shouldn't have won it this year.

I think Ashley Young definatly deserved it though.

Ashley Young has in no way had a comparable season to Gerrard and Gerrard has had an amazing season. It should have gone to him...

I mean Ashley young deserved the PFA young player of the year award, which he did win.
