Resisting the authorities and the fascists

A number of recent incidents come to mind. Police brutality in England, Greece, and several other countries in the world. There is no way to justify this. But then again, there may be no way to justify the decisions we make to strike back at this injustice. How do we resist violent injustice, and what determines the necessity that we respond to it?
