Chris Cornell + Rage Against The Machine = Audioslave

Source: Blabbermouth.net

After months of rumors, it appears that Audioslave has been officially selected as the name of the new project featuring ex-Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and former Rage Against The Machine members Tim Commerford (bass), Brad Wilk (drums), and Tom Morello (guitar). A web site residing on the Sonymusic.com servers has been launched at audioslavemusic.com, containing four small, blurry photos of the group's members, as well as a form which you can use to sign up for an official online newsletter.

As previously reported, Audioslave recently signed a management deal with The Firm (i.e. Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc.) and are readying the release of their much-anticipated debut album, which is now not expected to surface before early 2003.

The band once rumored to be called Civilian had originally started work on their debut album early last year and were due to perform at this year's US Ozzfest dates. Shortly after announcing the tour, Cornell left the group, due in part to the differences stemming from the two parties having separate management deals. However, the band recently reunited and was seeking a neutral third party for management of the project. Previously, the RATM members were with Peter Mensch and Cliff Burnstein's management company Q-Prime, while Cornell was managed by Jim Guerinot's Rebel Waltz.

i liked song #s 2 and 3 on the demo...one about a house and one that includes the line
shapes of every size/ move behind my eyes
doors inside my head/ bolted from within
and the song that goes
if you're free/ you'll never see the walls
they were all ok, but the rest was mostly shite

Look on the net dude....

Yeah, Rage without Zack, it would be hard to imagine in the 90's, but give Rage the credit for continuing to fight....

No shit! The net! Fuck me, I never thought of that!

Yeah, I realized they'd be on the net bro-dude ese-vato homie-g. I was hoping someone would have a specific destination, but as I've tried asking for specific destinations from people on this site before, I shoulda realized it was a fruitless endeavor.

I don't know how much politics will be in there anymore, and it will be weird hearing Cornell over those guitars. Cochise was pretty good though

The politics made Rage for me. Those guitar lines were so powerful when you felt the anger against oppression in it. If Cornell sings about stupid shit like he did in Soundgarden I won't feel the guitar/music shit. Anyone who knows anything about music knows that Rage's music was pretty simple shit. I compare it to punk music. The Sex Pistols sucked musically but their message made you angry enough to really feel what they were doing. The same with Rage. A song like bullet in the head is shit without its meaning. It was angry but angry for a reason. If people are angry over their girlfriend I'm not feeling it like anger over racism or oppression.

I know that members of RATM were politically involved during their time with the band. Hopefully they stay active. But sadly it won't come across in their music and without politics rage is just another shitty band. And that's real.
