View Full Version : Do you ever start to feel silly

Blackscare

for using an assumed nickname?

Every once in a while I start to feel like a fool for calling myself "Blackscare" on an internet forum. My name's Joe, not Blackscare. >__<

I don't know, maybe I'm weird. Sometimes I'll be reading someone's post and think "how can I take him seriously, his name is probably Todd or something".

This site isn't so bad, you don't really see "dragonavenger666" or shit like that, but still.

Anyone else ever have these moments?

Yup, especially with the Shelley avatar gone.

I have a kind of kiddish sounding nickname and I feel silly when I am sleeping with someone and she says it. It breaks my concentration :(

Though it could be worse, I could be named Todd.

Todds don't live longer than the age of 26.

It's science.

I can think of worse names than being called "hugs." I'm quite satisfied with my user name, though I might change it to "hugsandmarxism."

Though it could be worse, I could be named Todd.

I like it when people call me all the variations of my nick, with few people actually reffering to me with all the nick.:lol:Fuserg is the most usual and then its the Fuser, i hear the Fuse too:lol::lol:Nahh i dont feel silly, its a sweet nickname, though Fuserg does seem silly on its own, but the g9 was added for been the only one all over the net with this nick, although some "fuckers" tried to still it from me:(they havent managed it yet!:D

No... Actually, IRL many people only know me as "Necro".

We're having a nice evening with our friends and all... suddenly someone shouts: "Hey Necro! Pass the chips would ya!!!" Its quite common for us to know each other by our internet nicknames.

Yeah I used to do that too, but it got too uncomfortable to refer to my parents as hotbabe4u2000 and XhardstallionX at the dinner table.

Rjevan
28th April 2009, 16:51
No, I like my nicknames and identify with them soon, so that they don't seem strange or childish to me, they are part of me.
And besides, Rjevan is a name I use for myself more and more in real life because it's a nice (but totally unlogical ;)) pun which concludes my frist name as well as my last name, reminds of Darth Revan, the "je" has something Russian and it is simply just cool. I love it!

NecroCommie

Darth Revan is THE Jedi/Sith!

Yes, Revan is just awesome! He's one of the reasons why I like the first KotoR better than the second one. ;)

I've had several different names. I dislike that my initial name on RevLeft is my first name, not because I hate my name, but it's just bad practice. The name "wwsd" (what would Stalin do?) was just to provoke people, but it stuck for a long time. After that, most names have been good choices. Ronnie James Dio, Dick Dastardly, De Baron (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bassie_%26_Adriaan) and Wanted Man were probably my favourite names.

Right now, I've got a good mind to get a new name, or change back to Wanted Man. But I don't really want to change either, it's just confusing to people.
