Free gif animator?

I should probably have posted this in the free software group but i thought i'd get more soup here.

What i'm after is a freeware animation package that will allow me create a series of bmp or jpg images in a animated sequence and save it as an animated gif file.

Now, I'm not interested in 30 day trials that leave a stupid watermark, or awkward torrents that either take about 5 years to download or ones with unreliable keygen read me files that tell me ''i'm a motherfucker for trying to steal software''.

ok thanks. the third link iv just saved has a couple of software options one may tickle your fancy ;)
