Recently i have been hearing alot of Anti-Flag and Propagandhi. They are two great political punk bands and are pretty well known.

If you like Oi! you should listen to Decibelios. Though their apolitical.

The nazi punk type of Oi! is usually called RAC (Rock Against Communism) and most modern bonehead music sounds closer to death metal than Oi!. anyway, Oi! and punk have sorta branched off, and it's all different now.

My favorite political punk bands and straightedge bands are:

Anti-flag
Cause they are straight-edge and anti-capitalists. A winning combination.

Earth crisis:
Cause they sing about the enviornment and how it needs to be protected and stuff. And they sing about veganism and the benefits of it, they also sing about random things like the indians being killed by the christian invaders (unseen holocaust).

Boy sets fire:
I like their lyrics to the force majeure. They talk about capitalism in that song, the best anti-capitalism song ever, they talk about rising up, that's why i like it.
Plus they about "rising" up in other songs as well. they just have a lot of cool lyrics.

Dead kennedys: outspoken punk band from back in the da. these guys rock, they were speaken about these issues before it was cool to do so, issues like censorship, jocks force in scnhool, anti-mtv, etc...

Unseen: same as anti-flag except unseen are straight-punk rock no bullshit. and they are not X

Propagandhi: cool band.

NofX, they are all right. they have some good songs.
Plently political too, they talk about "victims of the laissez-faire" in the decline album.
