From Haaretz (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1080097.html):

The Obama Administration will put forth new peace initiatives only if Israel wants it to, said Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in his first comprehensive interview on foreign policy since taking office.

"Believe me, America accepts all our decisions," Lieberman told the Russian daily Moskovskiy Komosolets. Nothing like a blank check from the world's sole hyperpower.

Lieberman also believes that Israel can also make Russia useful to its ends in the Middle East:

"Russia has a special influence in the Muslim world, and I consider it a strategic partner that should play a key role in the Middle East," Lieberman said in the interview.

"I have argued for some time that Israel has insufficient appreciation for the 'Kremlin factor'; I intend to mend this gap," he said.

Political sources in the Commonwealth of Independent States have told Haaretz that they believe Lieberman's appointment will result in "greater understanding" between Israel and Russia.

Avigdor Lieberman is delusional. (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/07/world/europe/07prexy.html?scp=5&sq=avigdor%20lieberman&st=cse)

In a direct rebuttal of comments made last week (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/02/world/middleeast/02mideast.html) by Israel’s hawkish new foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/l/avigdor_lieberman/index.html?inline=nyt-per), that agreements reached at an American-sponsored peace conference in Annapolis, Md., in 2007 have “no validity,” Mr. Obama said: “Let me be clear: the United States strongly supports the goal of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security.”

Well on this, I think we can be certain time will tell whether the US does put forth specific and meaningful peace proposals without Israeli permission. Obama has already established an impressive track-record of speaking out of both sides of his mouth on any number of issues, a trait he excels at even among bourgeois politicians.

Well, yeah, but it's a totally unrealistic expectation to see the US stop supporting Israel. But that doesn't mean he isn't a bit more progressive (compared to that last fucker), but yes time will tell.

The real test will come when Israel demands rights to fly-over Iraq (which is under protection of the USAF) to strike Iran.

And the US plays both sides of the conflict, too, and that's common practice. We give the Israelis weapons to bomb Gaza, then we pledge $4bn to rebuild what those very weapons destroyed, for example.

He must be one of those loonies that actually believes it is Israel that orders the US around, instead of the other way around.

Yes he must.

Imagine if a non-Jew said that, they would automatically be called anti-semitic.

Lieberman is a full fledged lunatic. In his history he has personally beaten up a child and declared that Israeli Arabs must swear themselves to Israel.

He is violent and dangerous and will inevitably cause massive damage. Perhaps he will be sick enough to actually cause some criticism from the US, but I doubt it.

Imagine if a non-Jew said that, they would automatically be called anti-semitic.

You're acting as stupid as Lieberman. Someone would be labeled as antisemitic for it because such a statement implies that they genuinely believe Jews control the world, which, presumably for them would necessitate their destruction.
Lieberman is talking out of his arse. Much like antisemites.
