okay I decided to make a symbol for Socialism since well there really isn't one except the hammer and sickle is commonly used, but that's really for communism though.
Well here is the rough draft of it.
There is no color and it's a little sloppy, but I'm not a good artist at all so this is actually pretty good for my standards. Also you guys can change it how ever you want. Also i would really appreciate it if you guys could maybe make a better version of this symbol like add color to it and stuff like that. Please if you do something to it, please post a link to it or post the image here.

The link you posted isn't working, try uploading it to your RevLeft profile, or maybe just use a different image hosting service. The hammer and sickle is used by lots of people who call themselves socialists too, not just so called communists. Also there is the red star, the red rose, the red fist, the red flag, and a whole bunch of others.

It's strange that the link in the OP isn't working for you, teenagebricks. It worked just fine for me.
Anyway, I for one have been quite fine with the existing set of socialist symbols: red stars, red flags, tools (hammers, sickles, wrenches, plows, scythes, etc.), gears, wheat and other grains, as well as the occasional weapon (machetes and AK-47's coming to the forefront of my mind)

He was refering to the user with the username "teenagebricks".
Anyway its an OK picture but I dont think it could become a universal socialist symbol because it is too complicated. its not the kind of thing you could spray on a wall in a few seconds

Here is a colored version of it that my friend did.

Personally, I think a crossed hammer and wrench with a gear below it and and red star above it would be pretty swell

Ah, I can see that one, still can't get the other link to work, very odd. Anyway, it's a worthy attempt, but I have a few qualms. First of all I'd like to see the rose, the hammer and the sickle a play a bigger part in this symbol, of course we believe in peace, we'd be stupid not to, but we are socialists, and that means we are pro worker above all else, so I think they should be a bit more prominent in a symbol of socialism. Next up, the colours, I can't get into the colours, try swapping the red and yellow over, it only makes sense to have a red star, unless you are trying to reinvent the way socialism is represented visually, something I would advise against, we're red for a reason. Finally, it's a bit busy, like scarletghoul said, you couldn't just stencil this onto a wall in a few seconds, try to keep it bold and simple, right now you have five major focal points, that's an awful lot if you want it to be attention grabbing, all the elements in your symbol just kind of blend into one another, simple is good, and it's usually easier. Take a look at party logos and flags of past and present, the flag of Angola is a prime example of old imagery being recycled to create new and fresh imagery, old propaganda posters are always a great source of inspiration. The picture you posted might work better as a logo for an individual party rather than as a symbol of an ideology or a theory. Hope this helps.

First off, i do support the idea to find new symbols. The ones out there are tried and true, and new ones could help generate support.
The Peace Symbol was derived from the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the 50's and 60's it has become synonymous with peace though. but i think its counter-intuitive to the idea of a united world of workers, no one will let them peacefully take over the means of production.
Also, i feel the Sickle and Hammer being separated sort of detracts from the unity of both agricultural and industrial workers.
my point is, that symbolism is to help convey a base meaning.
Find what you want to convey, then put it into visual form. This is a nice effort though ^_^
Re-using old symbols isnt a bad idea either.
Keep red for sure though, it symbolized the blood of the proletariat.
As Someone else suggested. Definitely look at the symbols of socialist parties and regimes. The DDR has a Compass over a Hammer with wheat on each flank symbolizing engineers, construction/general industrial work, and agriculture.

How about a rising sun, over which a crossed wrench and hammer is super-imposed, with a red banner below it, and a red star above it all. Now that would be 'badass.' I would probably want to incorporate a gear in there somehow.

the red rose
The red rose is the symbol of the Labour party. Furthermore, it was adopted in 1987, but a few short years before they scrubbed off Clause IV. Now I'm not suggesting that they have been a socialist group since 1914, but the Clause IV thing sticks out.
The CWI symbol is pretty cool, and I'm not saying that because I'm a CWI-sta, nor is it why I am so. But if you can put it with an H+S, that'd be pretty cool.
And the crow's foot isn't a vague peace symbol in the way that the heart serves for love; it's the badge of CND.

Yes, it's a symbol of Labour now, but the red rose has been in use by socialists since May '68, maybe even before then, Labour only used it to put themselves at odds with other European socialist parties in order to gain support of the workers, I believe that is when they stopped using the red flag.

It is totally crowded. And I would lose the peace sign too.
Personally I don't think the movement needs symbols, but they're always nice to see - I would stick with something simple, like the good ol' red star. Remember it has a meaning as well!

I like it. I don't think you need to lose the peace symbol. When most people think of Communism they think of Stalin and all the people 'communism' has killed. I think peace sign shows that is not what we are.

My Comrade, I know why you want to reinvent the image of Socialism. I had once come up with a new idea for a symbol, but I mailed it to a certain Baba Ranjit Singh, his kind but mocking words stay with me: "Amandev, my brother, I think that your surrendering to revisionism... Again."

If you want to fuse communism and the peace sign, how about this? I made it out of boredom ages ago but I thought it could go in this thread. Could be elaborated further perhaps? I was thinking of a star in the right space that looks empty.

BTW, in your original picture, I think that is a Merchedes sign, not a peace sign. No offence intended.

The above image is pretty cool.
There really isn't a shortage of interesting hammer and sickle re-imaginings though:

This might be socialism's oldest symbol. It predates the organization that adopted it as its own.
