alright so this is a band that i completely love. they rock. i really love them because i love poetry and the way they put poetry and muzik together (the two loves of my life) is beautiful. im not too sure if i like their new stuff, but their old stuff will live! but i am curious to know if there are other out there who feel the same. :cheesy:

I agree.....I have always liked the Cure and have been listening to them for about 15 years. Anything post Kiss Me X 3, is rubbish in my opinion.....a lot of people I know liked Disentigration, but I thought it was pap. Their early stuff was GREAT! My fave LPs by them are Pornography, Boys Dont Cry, Seventeen Seconds and Faith. GREAT stuff!!!!

I disagree - later Cure have some amazing stuff. How can you dismiss Wish and Bloodflowers so easily? *smiles*
I'm a massive Cure fan, up to the point where about this time last year they were all i lived for. Kinda got better since then (not as unhappy) but they still get played and i still have a place for them in my heart. I missed them play in Hyde Park this year because i was on holiday, but i will see them some day. You mark my words.
Anybody like other new-wave stuff: Bauhaus, Souxise? I can give you a list of things to check out the sound like early Cure that you might like.
Zippy.
PS. 'Just Like Heaven' is one of the best songs ever written. :)

It's funny that we Commies enjoy the same music.I don't know what to say about the cure only that they really transmit human emotion into rock!Just say yes!

Count me as another fan. :)
And mujer revolucionaria, you didn't like "Disintegration?" Eek! I loved that one. I think the title track is one of their finest.

The best Cure song is "Burn" (from The Crow soundtrack).

Hmmm... The Cure, Siouxsie, Bauhaus... I'm betting that you have some Depeche Mode in your collection, too, don'tcha? How many times have you seen "The Hunger?" :) Just kidding.
I was never big into Siouxsie, but if I hear "The Passenger" (I think that's the one) I get "la la la la la la la la" stuck in my head for days. Bauhaus had some good stuff, and I don't care what anyone says, I still like "Bela Lugosi's Dead."
So how goth are you, anyway? And the all important question: you dig The Smiths?

Thats an Iggy Pop song that Siouxsie covered. :)
As for the "how goth are you?" question; i'm goth enough to know that being a goth is a cliché. *smiles*

Listening to my mp3's and i remember an amazing cover version of Purple Haze (Hendrix) that The Cure have done, so i tell you all to go download it now.
To add to the list of "goth" bands i also throw in Joy Division. I'm a sucker for Manchester indie and add the goth element to that and i'm in love. The Cure also do a carbon-copy-cover of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' that you could check out. :)

I have only seen The Hunger once.....it was so so....and I do have Depeche Mode, I was way into that stuff when I was like 13.....
I am not a goth, no ever claimed to be, nor would ever desire to be.....so dont go there ;)
I also listen to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, does that make me a redneck? ;)
And yes Joy Division were wonderful.....though my favorite bands to come out of Manchester (which is my 2nd home) are The Smiths and The Stone Roses (BRILLIANCE!!!!!)
