Most of the ones you listed
Billy Bragg
Lead Belly
The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello solo)
Pete Seeger (!)
Blind Willie McTell
Ry Cooder
Elliot Smith (!)
Tom Verlaine
Tom Waits is OK (I think I need to listen to more of him)

I also want to get into Phil Ochs and Victor Jara, but haven't really heard either one yet.

Tom Waits is pretty decent, the quote in my signature is from one of his songs.

If you want to get into Phil Ochs check out his songs: I Ain't Marching Anymore, Here's To The State Of Mississippi, That's What I Want To Hear, Love Me I'm A Liberal, Pretty Smart On My Part, When I'm Gone, A Toast To Those Who Are Gone, The World Began In Eden And Ended In Los Angeles.

He's the most politically conscious singer-songwriters I know of.
