Communist
22nd April 2009, 23:46
The Obama administration has finally released four
long-awaited legal memos used by the Bush administration
to design its torture program - the CIA's "harsh
interrogation techniques."

And President Barak Obama, on April 6, pledged to “*/seek
broad engagement based upon mutual interests and mutual
respect. We will listen carefully, bridge
misunderstanding, and seek common ground/*” with the
Muslim world.

But since September 11, 2003, hundreds of Islamic
immigrants have been put behind bars through the toxic
combination of sensationalist headlines and, in the eyes
of many in these communities, evidence concocted unfairly
and/or twisted to convict innocent Muslims.

Do the President’s words conflict with the government’s
actions? If his words signal a new direction, should the
disputed trials for these now-imprisoned Muslim men be
re-examined?

On Thursday, April 23, a forum will take place on the case
of the Ft Dix 5 at Calvary Church, 48 & Baltimore, at 7pm.

*Three family members* will be speaking on why they
believe the Ft Dix 5 are innocent of the crime of which
they were convicted – conspiracy to attack the base at
Fort Dix, NJ.

Also speaking is **Lynne Jackson**, of Project SALAM
(Support And Legal advocacy for Muslims).

Attorney Lynne Stewart, the Muslim Solidarity Committee,
*Free Fahad Committe, and the *Dhafir Trial Committee,
comprise Project SALAM, (http://www.projectsalam.org (http://www.projectsalam.org/)), a
national organization devoted to researching and
documenting the likelihood that the United States Justice
Department’s post-9/11 terrorism-related prosecutions and
convictions have included a significant number of Muslims
who were in fact innocent of any crime.
