I was born near London in Watford, yet have lived my entire life in the US near the mountains in Colorado. I find myself disgusted with modern existence and believe our lives can and should be more fulfilling. I believe capitalism and centralized government are to blame for our shallow lives in which we must give up what truly matters to make ends meet. The majority of people act like a herd. They do not question existence, which I find to be the most pertinent question.

I look forward to learning from your expertise.

You sound like a primitivist.

I suppose I am to some extent. Though I believe we should keep labour reducing technologies which can minimize our efforts to satisfy our physiological needs. Therefore we would work less and have more leisure time to satisfy our higher level needs and become self-actualized. Currently much of the collective work effort is squandered in attempts to satisfy fake needs, capitalist/materialist/bullshit "needs". I think we must find what it means to be the best that we can be. (and no I don't mean joining the army)

Also primmies are counter-revolutionary and are not allowed on this site!

I jokes. But if you are a primmie you are prone to harassment by some of the senior members.

I'm not sure exactly what a primitivist is defined as?

If it's counter-revolutionary to be working towards the destruction of capitalism and our current government system in much of the world, then I'm not sure what revolutionary is defined as either?

Now it sounds like you've been reading Animal Farm.

Why? I'm just saying people don't need to work as much as they do to satisfy their real needs given our technological advancements.

Well primitivist would be defined as a person that wants to live in the wilderness abolish technology, currency, and class. Well primitivism isn't exactly counter revolutionary but it involves getting rid of the means of mass production that would make life easier for the worker that you were talking about.

I apologize, I must not have been clear. I want a classless society governed by the people who compose it in a direct democracy. Where we would still use mass production but only to satisfy real needs, giving us plenty of free time to explore and understand deeper issues such as what it means to live a meaningful life.

I lived out there at one point. It's an odd mix of natural beauty and asshole people. It surely is nice to meet a fellow 'Coloradoin' who DOESN'T buy the bullshit anymore. Welcome aboard. ;)

Welcome:)

But to be honest you sound anti-entertainment, which I find to be a completely ridiculous stance.

I'm not anti-entertainment, I just believe that entertainment should serve a useful purpose. The purpose behind much entertainment that Americans watch on TV is not useful in my opinion.
