I just came back from the pub and had a chat to my Welsh Great-Uncle.

Apparently (during WWII) he went picking up some cargo from Valencia, Spain- (during the reign of Franco!)

When he went ashore with some of his shipmates, he noticed another British looking fellow being showered with gifts of booze and food by the locals.

After introducing himself to this bloke and asking the obligatory "whats the story" question he found out that the fellow was a Welshman from up the road from him in Wales!

Then the man revealed to him that he had left his ship and been put in a Spanish prison. "Whatever for", queried my Great-Uncle.
"I was in a bar", responded the fellow, "when I saw a giant portrait of Franco on the wall. Infuriated, I biffed a bottle of whiskey at it!"
"The Moroccan guards threw me in Jail."
"After I was released the entire village embraced me with offerings of beer and brandy, food and wine."

Later on my Welsh Uncle told me of how his countryman was picked up by his vessel to be eventually taken home.
