Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) is being investigated for corruption in offering to put political pressure to reduce sentences for Israeli spies in the US in exchange for AIPAC pressure on Nancy Pelosi to give Harman the chair of the House Intelligence Committee

I think its sort of ironic that this congresswoman, Harman, is getting all riled up about the "abuse of power" and that the wiretapping is "stamping on her rights" when she was actually one of the handful of Democratic representatives in the House to support domestic wiretapping on American citizens when it was first brought out by George W. Bush; I bet think she wishes she didn't now or (more likely) believes the government should only spy on regular citizens, not legislators.

Hmm..

I tinhk you have it the wrong way around, Israel's whole establishment was a miltary manoeuvre by the West. This didn't take fruitition right away it's true, but it soon became apparent that a miltary base in the Middle East would bring untold advantages to US imperialism.

Israel then is both a creation and puppet of the United States, yes they may not always agree and Israel may act according to it's own expansionist ambitions that the US isn't happy with (after all the ruling class have divisions within them too), but never does Israel go against the interests of American capital.

Israeli influence (AIPAC et al) isn't huge in America because of a powerful lobby, rather the powerful lobby within the United States has such influence because it mirrors the economic and miltary ambitions of the United States bourgoisie.

Israel could not survive without American backing, not politically, not militarily, it's whole continued existance is based on complete subservience to the intersts of American capital and allainces with the United States and it's imperialist allies.
