there is going to be conference on racism at Geneva. the UN is sponsoring the conference and the US is boycotting due to their fear of Israel being condemned. He also stated that there is a chance Islamic nations might get upset at the conference. also to be noted that the western nations are afraid that the forum will be used to damage Israel and equate Zionism with oppression. the US is once again showing the world how unproductive it is in dealing with global issues.
that's what i got from the news, i might be wrong on a few facts. please add corrections if i got any wrong.
any opinions?

Many of the delegates walked out on the speech by Ahmadinejad, seems rather pointless but it sends a message I suppose.

I think Ahmadinejad will be pleased by this response as it serves to prove his "points" about ZOG. Swedish neonazis like Ahmadinejad quite much for some reason.

I will not deny that some of Israel policies are completely racist, but I would like to make a point.
At least today it's impossible to criticize Israel supposed racism without looking antisemitic.
It has the problem of the Jewish people being a former obviously oppressed and persecuted class for thousands of years.
Even when the intentions are good all attacks on Israel can be reduced to antisemitism.
An example, while most attacks on white racism are mostly reduced to demonize white people, most attacks on Israel racism are also reduced to demonize Jewish people.
And to anyone that believes that Israel and Judaism are too completely different things is really naive. Israel is a very important part of the identity of Jewish people all around the world today.

there are things called being tact full in a global diplomatic stage!
most iranians dont care about their leaders position. they know what happened and are not anti-semitic. However, they dont support zionism.
it is hard for some to separate anti-zionism and anti-antisemitism; if one is to go about be anti-Zionist, then one needs to be very tact and polite about it.

I know the guy's been banned, but I want to reply to his post anyway. I think in a perfect world, every racial group could have its own homeland, but that quite obviously is not probable. In saying that though, I'm not opposed to Jewish people and do not deny their history, I just don't believe its wise to claim they have suffered like no other people and desperately need this state. If Jews so desperately need this state or homeland, then why are a large percentage of global Jewry not living in Israel?
The left has never been concerned with Israel's Jewish character, it has always maintained concern with racial/apartheid-styled policies, expansionism and its human rights record. I don't think it would be unfair to say, that if Israel had returned to the 1967 borders a decade ago, support for Israel would have greatly increased amongst those on the left. I agree with most critics of Israel including Jeff Halper, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Halper) when he says that Israel has to let go of its Leon Uris version of history. There is no way in hell a country can maintain 'one identity'. I think Jewish culture has much more hope if its not limited by an Israeli society separated between two people.
The conflict could have been solved ages ago, if the Israelis had decided whether to define their state or absorb the Arab-Palestinian population into one-state.
We seem to have this ridiculous conversation in contemporary times, thanks to the Bush years, of their being a consensus among the pro-Israel right/Likud community in and outside of Israel, that says 'we want to build settlements on Palestinian land, but don't want to have anything to do with them, and don't want them to have a state'. How does that make any sense? If the Palestinians have no state, but Israel wants to build houses right next to them, then what kind of future is that? How can things get better? There seems to be no doubt in my mind, that the non-existent intellectual capacity of George W. Bush and his team over the last 8 years, has had a massive impact on Israeli policy in Gaza and the West Bank. I've only thought about that more recently.
