I finally got my hands on the documentary "Man in the Sand" this evening and watched it. It is about the making of the Mermaid Avenue LP, by Wilco and Billy Bragg, with Woody's lyrics that came out a few years ago.
Has anyone seen this? I found it very interesting the threat he still poses to capitalist society. There was a sign where his house used to be, and someone had written all over it "commie bastard" (or something similar) etc......the woman showing the sign said the writing was only a couple years old.
I think it is great that Woody shakes things up 37 years after his death and will continue to do so long into the future.

Wasn't planning on it to be truthful, but then I've had other things on my mind recently.
Can't see why I couldn't get there tho',so I'll get me planning head on. :)

Wilco I dont think publicly or musically have subscribed to any political philosophy, that isnt their thing. They just worked on the Mermaid Avenue LP's with Billy Bragg (though Wilco is one of my favorite bands....hometown heroes haha)
.....I am SO jealous you guys get to see Billy Bragg.....I looked at his tour schedule and it is all in the UK through the end of the year. Figures, it's when I am not over there.....poop

If you folks haven't done so already, make sure to get "The Internationale" by Billy Bragg. Very good stuff there.
By the way, Guthrie had a sticker on his guitar that read "This Machine Kills Fascists."

I like pretty much everything Billy Bragg has done, I am a big fan. And Woody actually had that painted on his guitar, he travelled with that guitar when he was in the merchant marines in WWII.
