Generally, I always seemed to prefer a Live version (not bootlegged though) of an album over the studio version; more spontaneous and improvisational. Most people I know like studio versions better. Any preferences here?

i like seeing bands live. live records are cool beause they are raw and the sound is so real. if it's really good it makes you feel as if you are there.

The live versions almost always sound more inspired and more energetic than studio work, but it generally depends on the music, I guess. The Black Crows can stretch any 5 minute song from Amorica into an all-out 15-minute on-stage masturbational guitar solo jam session, but Deftones sound a bit lame because Chino always sings out of key, and the distortion from one guitar comes of as a little thin.

But drum n bass sounds great live, especially if there's a free-stylin' MC, like LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, or Ganja Kru or Asia Dub Foundation...

i like the studio version better. that way you dont hear ppl yelling i love you such and such. i like live because most of the time they sing a variety of songs not just from one album.

It depends what kind of music....
SKA has to be live... it sounds soo much better live than studio.
But other than that im not all that bothered...
Bluerev002 yea ur right about that, but most of the stuff i listen to doesnt tend to have little girlies screaming
