Tell us all about your local team!

My team is Be Quick 1887 from Groningen, who play at the monumental Esserberg stadium. In 1920, long before professional football was introduced in the Netherlands, Be Quick won their only league title. The Esserberg was designed by one of the players of that championship squad. Today, it has a capacity of about 10,000, although obviously it's never filled out anymore.

Be Quick play in the Hoofdklasse C, the highest amateur league for teams from the north and east of the country. After some seasons of going back-and-forth between the highest amateur league and the second highest, we are currently a stable mid-table side. An impressive feat, considering that some "amateur" clubs in the league are actually semi-pros, whose players have contracts with rich businessmen and the like.

Partially due to the recent growth of professional club FC Groningen, the amount of spectators and atmosphere has been lower during the last few years. But 200-700 die-hards still attend every home game, and the club has a thriving youth system. This season, the club will likely finish 7th. The club also made it into the Dutch FA Cup this season, getting eliminated by the professional club NEC.

The team plays in white shirts, black shorts and black socks with yellow and red. The logo is a yellow and red shield:

The terraces are built on artificial hills:

The Esserberg also accomodates a smaller amateur club, Helpman. It is also host to the Eurovoetbal tournament. Previously a general youth tournament for the top clubs, it has recently changed into a U17 tournament. It often includes big clubs like Ajax, FC Groningen, Real Madrid, Porto, PSV, etc. It always draws large crowds.

Maybe if they'll drop a cluster bomb on all the 200-700 people next Sunday, I could be in deep shit. ;) But I'll change one exact detail, I see your point. No need to connect myself to one specific spot.
