I'm think of learning to DJ (not the barmitzvah or club type) the hi hop type. Scratching, beat juggling, battling, etc.
Does anyone have any tips or what set up to get

Freaky, but what a coincidence! I've been hanging out with a few turntablists recently, and they've all but brainwashed me into trying it out. I'm thinking of taking a few classes with them to learn the tricks and stuff, but they said the best thing to do when you're starting out is to learn mixing and beat juggling, before attempting the harder stuff: scratches, tears, chops and the like.
The best hardware is apparently Vestax & Ecler turntables, but that stuff is expensive. And you might as well get two, so you can practise more advanced tricks as you progress...
I can't really talk too much, 'coz I'm barely into it right now, but head on to sites like www.djzx.com, www.spinwarp.com & poundmag.com for more info...Good luck, Lardlad! :)
