Hey dudes. Name's Ian. I live in Cape Coma, Florida, and I uh, just discovered this site today. Pretty tight, man. I don't really know how to describe my politics, seeing as how I'm sorta just now coming into them recently, but I guess I can give it a shot.

I think we need to pretty much scrap the government and start over. I don't believe a thousand people should be governing three hundred million. It's fucking bullshit. I work my ass off and pay taxes like everybody else, and I can't even light up a blunt on my own street without getting thrown in jail. I'm tired of this government nanny shit. It's gotten out of control. The government DOESN'T know what's best for me, or for you, or for the guy over there, you know? They should have no say in what I smoke, or what age I start drinking, or whether I can burn a flag or not, or whether I want to marry another dude or not. I'm totally disenchanted with our system, and I truly believe the only way we'll ever fix it is by getting rid of it.

Where we as a people go from there, I dunno. But what I *do* know is, if I'm capable enough to get out of bed every day and work 70+ hours a week, I should have the right to smoke, drink, or fuck whatever I like without having to face incarceration.

I'm thoroughly anti-capitalist. I used to drink the kool-aide, but ever since capitalism swallowed my life, I've been singing a different tune. I'm also kind of a tin-foil hat (don't hate), but I won't go into that unless pressed.

Bottom line, I'm not neccessarily against the IDEA of government, but the one we have now is too massive. You just can't objectively govern 300 million people .

Welcome to the board, Ian. Don't worry too much about finding labels to describe your politics. Way too many folks around here, and out in the real world, find a label and then cling to it like it's the only thing that matters. What's more important is to develop your perspectives and find logic and consistency, not some magic term that makes people understand where you're coming from.

Ironic that I say this with a big Circle A as my avatar, but you get the idea. I didn't just wake up one day as an anarchist, I studied politics for years before reaching the conclusions that I'm at today and I'm constantly evolving.

Alright, enough of a lecture. Hope you enjoy the place. If you're looking to really get yourself into serious political thought, I'd suggest reading the Theory forum. It tends to have a higher level of discussion and ideas then is present in Politics, and some of the perspectives debated there are pretty enlightening.

P.S. re the tin-foil hat stuff: consider thinking a bit about this concept (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor).

Hey! Nice to see another Floridian here. Like YSR said, don't worry too much about labels. We're all here to learn.
