Connecticut Student Paper Editor Dismissed For Activist Ties

At Central Connecticut State University, the opinion editor at the schools newspaper has been dismissed because she is a member of a socialist club on campus. The papers editor fired Marissa Blaszko last month citing her anti-war activism and her membership in the Youth for Socialist Action club. Blaszko said: We shouldnt have to swear off our interest in activism, or hide our opposition to a war, to work for our campus newspaper.

Sounds McCarthyist to me. I thought those days were over, but apperently not. Regardless of what others think of me i'm wearing my Socialist label with pride when I attend college in september.

The Capitalists always think of us badly and banning the news paper sounds alot like a McCarthyist and they are basicly the Anti-communists that hate us to the very core. When they say "communism is evil" tell them what happened to the roseburgs in the 1950s. Both not given a trial and claimed by a stupid convention. Thus the phrase "US was paranoid in Cold War." Makes perfect sense.

I'm actually probably going there, or to Eastern CT State University. I have a friend at Southern (no, there is no western) that I can talk to and see if she knows anything.
