Is anyone going to this?

I think I'm going to get around to going this year. Was meant to go last year but ended up not going, due to a couple of things.

I'm looking forward to see John Bellamy-Foster and Slavoj Žižek most I think.

One of the reasons I'm probably going is cuz I wanna talk to some people from the Anarchist Federation. Preferably Haraldur since we had some good times 'fighting' together on the internets (cybernations xD). AFED always struck me as a really good organisation, and since im probably going to do my masters in England, I'll join up with the AF most likely (which is why i want to talk to the AF ^^).

So, Joe, would be great if you could come, and if the meetings suck we'll just get wasted in some pub :D

I think you have confused things.

Marxism 2009 is the annual meeting of the Socialist Workers Party, a British trotskyist organisation. I don't think the AF will have a stall/presence at the event.

Maybe your thinking of the Anarchist Movement 2009 event, which is to be held in June in London.

Seeing as he's a member of the Dutch section of the IST, I somehow doubt this is the case.

If you are arranging meeting up remember to be careful about talking about details (i.e. don't do it). As far as I know quite a few revlefters will be there or in the area, myself included, but I'm only going to organise it through people I know in real life and msn, texts etc, I'd advise others to do the same.

I have changed my mind and may attend this. Depends on whether my sister is coming with me or not.

I have lost count of the number of times I have been offered a leaflet on this by an SWP member. It's been like four fucking times now, twice in London, once in Glasgow and... well, three then, but still.

So are you guys planning on meeting up? Not asking for specific info just wondering.

Me and Holden should be going down together I think on whatever transport has been organised by the SWP here. And I think he's already sorted out to meet up with a couple of people from here... So I'll just tag along ;)

Hello,

I've got 2 tickets for Marxism to sell, for £25 each! Wish I could go but booked to go to Syria and Lebanon, looks amazing, anyone unsure have a look here - http://www.marxismfestival.org.uk/

Normally a waged ticket would go for £45, and I've asked the organisers and they say there's no problem in selling the tickets, they would simply change the name.

So if you're interested please message me, thanks!

Don't get many opportunities to meet international comrades I guess  Also I was thinking, a smoking binge > pub.

I am hoping to go, but knowing no one else going and only being 18 it's sort of undecided as to whether I can afford to get to London, get the tickets etc. Although I imagine it'd be well worth the experience.

I got a return coach ticket with National Express from Sunderland for £15 and the event is only something like £25 (student ticket). Just go, stay in over in the community centre where loads of other people will be and I'm sure you'll make loads of new friends.

Nor have you invited the party to debate these issues at Marxism (http://www.anonym.to/?http://www.blogger.com/www.marxismfestival.org.uk) this year, despite us debating with you (http://averypublicsociologist.blogspot.com/2008/11/sp-and-swp-debate-revolutionary-party.html) at our national event (http://averypublicsociologist.blogspot.com/search/label/Socialism%20Weekend), Socialism 2008 last year, and our request that you reciprocate at your event. This method has elements, albeit on a smaller scale, to the approach of the Communist Parties in the early 1930s, who made declarations for a ‘united front from below’ but who refused to engage in negotiations with the leaderships of other workers’ organisations

No I won't be going. I'm pretty hard up, the party offered to help with some expenses but by staying up here it means I get a few more hours of work as well. Besides, i'm bac in court the day after Marxism so I don't want to risk it. It sucks, I hate missing Marxism and some of the meetings look excellent, but in fairness i've also had some great experiences this year working and helping to build another IST section so i'd rather district funds go to new members or non-members interested in the politics of the SWP.

Maybe next year eh ;)

I got an email about it the other day and apparently it's community halls that are close to the venue - that means no expensive tube journeys, just make sure you bring a sleeping bag.

I am of course going. I will of course be seeing Holden and HLVS, and hopefully others ;)

Yeah, theirs not much infomation about the Accomondation out. It's just a shitty crashpad, probably in a room with about 50-100 other comrades. I guess its alright because you meet other comrades much more easy then.
