How many members does Afed have? Does it have an official newspaper or zine? How does it operate (I've already read the constitution)?

I'd say just over a hundred members in the UK. It has a more regular paper called Resistance and then a monthly (I think) one called Organise. I'm not a member so I couldn't talk about how it operates really.

I actually beleive Organize! is for the WSM in Ireland.

Hey comrade, what exactly do you mean by organise, i'd be happy to respond with a vauge outline, but i'm wondering if you've anything more specific in mind when you ask that :).

Currently we have about 160 members, the majority of which belong to local AF grounps, defined on a geographical basis (Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, London, East Kent etc etc). Our local groups have complete autonomy and within the confines of our Aims and Principles (see here: http://www.afed.org.uk/aims.html), we encourage wide debate within and between groups and in that vein we don't push an 'orginisation official line' on matters, we allow our members to debate freely, both internally and publicly.

Currently our national federation operates two publications, Resistance! which is our monthly bulletin (see latest edition and other past issues here: http://www.afed.org.uk/res/index.html) as well as the less frequent Organise!
(see latest edition as well as back issues here: http://www.afed.org.uk/org/index.html) which operates almost as a theoretical journal.

Feel free to enquire further :)

And I'm incharge.

In addition, we operate by consensus or 2/3rds voting. We strive for theoretical and tactical unity but also work within the principles of free association and autonomy of action.

No he dosn't :P

Also I should say that although the National Federation operates two publications, there are more publications the AFed has to it's name, with several member groups, Sheffield for example, writing their own local news-sheet/zine :)

I'd also like to know more about you guy's industrial strategy and long-term goals.

We have spent the best part of a year formulating our industrial strategy which will hopefully be published in the next couple of months.

Our long-term goals are to destroy capitalism, smash the state and create a libertarian communist society. We see this being achieved through a process of class struggles in which our ideas and tactics become a leading factor within them. We don't seek to form permanent organisational structures and understand that once the working class are using anarchist-communist ideas and methods the AF will become largely redundant.

You can read the pamphlet Beyond Resistance linked in my signature for more info.

There's an industrial strategy document that is going to be discussed for approval at our upcoming conference (two weeks away). Otherwise a lot of it is covered in our manifesto and "role of the revolutionary organisation" - www.afed.org.uk/ace (http://www.afed.org.uk/ace)

Edit: Damn you TAT!!! *shakes fist*

Thanks!

How much are dues etc? (I'm American, so I'm not asking about joining) I know for under 16 people it's only a pound a year.

Somewhat related, but why the hell do we only have NEFAC (with rediclous dues, like $100 a month) in the US in terms of a federation!

It's £15 a year unwaged, £24 a year low waged and then 1% of your monthly earnings for higher waged.

I don't know what it is for under 16's. It's probably free. I think the youngest member we have is 16 though.

No one has started a sister organisation in America...Yet. Maybe that will change?

DOWN WITH PLATFORMISM :p

No. WSM have Red and Black Revolution as a magazine, and Workers Solidarity as a montly paper.

If you cant afford NEFACs fairly high subs you can always become a supporter. Or found a new organisation

Supporter: A supporter of NEFAC is an individual or collective that agrees with the aims and principles of the federation and wishes to work with and assist the federation but either cannot, or does not wish to, fulfill full member responsibilities and thus is not seeking to become a full member of the federation at this time.
