I've been a fan of this band since I saw them on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2004 doing their song "Saturday Night."
They're awesome - they are best described as world-latin-hip hop-fusion. They also seem to have the most multicultural lineup I've seen a band have before, lol. They describe themselves as an "Urban-Latino-and-beyond collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LA R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga"
On each of their albums they have some english songs and spanish songs, usually about half and half. They're awesome! They are also a political band, and identify as revolutionary leftists. They're very political and they do a lot of free sets at protests, strikes, they're pretty active. I think they're the sort of band most people here would like, so if you don't know them, check them out.
