i consider manson to be very mainstream, as of today. like most that are now popular, he started out not known to a whole lot of people. he was kewl then and now, i love his shock value, i love the entertainment. i saw him last year at ozzfest in So cal, and i personally think he was the best act there. he hasn't changed much over the years, just gotten more creative to get a bigger audience.

He´s cool. I saw him @ Reading last year. My favourite album´s Mechanical Animals...I recommend that to any Bowie fans, it´s not at all metal.

Mechanical Animals is one of my favorite albums. Coma White simply rocks! I also heard that he is wonderful live but, that he is the biggest poser when you compare him in real life and on stage. Despite that little fact I find his music great.

Mainstream people I know have asked to listen to a bit of Manson, and I have been known to thrust it on a few and they all think it's ok (they usually listen to mechanical animals) which doesn't mean the band are mainstream, just easily accesable.

I have to say my fave albums are Mechanical animals and holywood. Some of Manson (the man himself)'s lyrics are a bit suspect, he has quite a lot of good lines but they're usually followed by shit ones.

I am NOT a mansonite, do not get that idea just because i have all their albums.

I haven't heard enough NIN, I should listen to more.

Talking 'bout puritanity (level) in US - Manson is very/rather offencive: the way he/band looks, his actions on stage, his sarcasm in early albums (Portrait..., Smells like...). I think for US he is rather revolutionary (at his beginning), but for me it's not. Yeah, i like his first albums, it was rather original, but now it's more mainstream... mtv, mtv...

angry, you do realise most of that shit is just rumour, and if it isn't it's publicity, none of it's serious.

tenzar, I get what you're saying. he's definitely a good thing in my book but he gets misunderstood cos he goes out to shock too much. angry is a perfect example of how he/they are misunderstood.

the band is ok, i'm more intersted in the man, i don't really find him attractive but he's a bit of an enigma, the way he mixes intelligence with the need for publicity kind of destroys his credibility, but i still have alot of respect for him. he's got some good ideas, but i owuld sya that- i'm a teenage nihilist.

Sorry Infamy but I don't quite agree with you. I don't think Manson's got his point across very well, jsut look at all the missinterpretation going on. Look at all the anti-manson groups in the US. I end up having to explain him many times to people, they don't get it, everyhting is distorted through the press, etc.

On the subject of the press, did anyone else here that a paper in Scotland said that Slipknot were oging to throw animals innards at the crowd at their gig there? I reckon it's all bullsh*t.
