View Full Version : Untrained (and possibly ex-filth) supply teachers?
Schools hiring bouncers! (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7995869.stm)
A recruitment agency, Aspire People, advertised vacancies for "Hard Core Cover Supervisors".
"You might be an ex-marine, prison officer, bouncer, policeman, fireman, sportsman, actor or you might be an overseas teacher looking to get some experience in the classroom."
Perhaps cancelling the class if the teacher takes a sickie is better.

Thats fucked up but considering we get police patrols though our school this is hardly much of a step up.

They have been doing it over here for years.
You got any bullet proof backpacks in your area yet STJ?

This is stupid as fuck. Coppers and other assorted thugs haven't the temperement nor the applicable skills for this type of shit. It's almost as bad as the cases of bankers getting fast track PGCEs without any fucking classroom experience. Either you have a trained supply teacher or you don't have a lesson, this is actively detrimental to education.

HAHAHA! Are you guys kidding me?! I need to give you a couple photos of my school....
We have 3000ish students
3 security guards with tazers
4 patrolling administration (with tazers?)
One police (complete with gun and the works) officer on full duty at the school
a camera system watching the entire campus, including all hallways and ones watching specific parts of the cafeteria
and janitors working all day shifts as to keep people off campus.
edit: we also have a principle who believes that students don't have a right to privacy, if you are suspected in being involved in drugs, they will call you into the office and search all your pockets and your cell phone records

Probably not the wisest idea, mental images as you do give should be enough. :P

That's disgusting, what goes on at your school? There must be something to even begin to warrant all that insanity.
My secondary comprehensive wasn't the best, it had a few deaths and stuff, but that's a whole new level.
I've seen a documentary before about a certain school in Compton and how they have a cop car stationed outside 24/7 (even though they like did the school up and now it's way way better than it was), I suppose it's all relative really and depends on the situation at that time in your specific locale (if you believe I'm wrong on this feel free to correct as necessary!).

Freshman year (I am a senior now) there was a bomb threat, the school cut the schedule and searched bags, everything, next day there was another (By someone else) and another, and another, because people found that they could cut the classes.
We had a different principle at that time
With our new one, a religious fundamentalist, we had a 5 figure security system installed, an additional security guard hired, random drug searches, and tazers given to the security.
The town has coke traffic going through it.... with big time guys though...
not students...
I have met one guy in my entire life that goes to the high school that played a hand in the trafficking.
Aside from that, everybody smokes and drinks, when you live in the middle of fucking no where, what else do you do?

I would work with my other students to try and get him kicked out were that me, I mean not usually but in this case - it's so bad. Maybe try organising them if you feel it's going that badly or speak to an authority that deals with the placement of headmasters?

Yeah it's utter madness, hope you do well inside all that craziness in your finals.
