Its great.... They are Musicians from Cuba... And they are amzing... Ruben Gonzalez and Compay Segundo are kinda the main people, however the rest def deserve mention too... they are...

- MANUEL 'GUAJIRO' MIRABEL VAZQUEZ
- OMARA PORTUONDO
- ORLANDO LOPEZ VERGARA "CACHAITO"
- BARBARO ALBERTO TORRES DELGADO (BARBARITO TORRES)
- MANUEL LICEA "PUNITILLITA"
- PIO LEYVA
- ELIADES OCHOA

sorry, had to mention them... they are incredible... i *think* all over the age of 80... or round about that age... and they still play their music fantastically

They are amazing. I saw the documentary and loved the scenes of Cuba and of these great musicians. They hold the Cuban spirit and culture in their music.

I saw the documentary and really enjoyed it and the music.
I think the pianist was great (the really old guy - I can't remeber his name now).
I never thought I would like the music, but I loved it. I need to get the album on CD.

The Pianist is Ruben Gonzalez... he is the oldest outta them all.

I love the music, and Borincano... ur right about the cuban spirit in their music... there needs to be more of it around

yeah the Buena Vista Social Club are amazing.....this is what is considered the traditional Cuban "son" style of music. When you are in Cuba you hear this music everywhere.

The first post failed to mention Ibrahim Ferrer, who is fantastic and he also has a solo album available. So does Omara Portuondo, Ruben Gonzales (he has a couple), Elidaes Ochoa, Compay Segundo (he has a couple as well), and I believe Pia Leyva does as well.....in Cuba you can find releases by them that arent available on the bigger labels.

Also check out the Afro-Cuban All Stars, there are a few Buena Vista faces in that group.
