I personally think that this is not an important issue. History will be "modified" by anyone and everyone. We do it, cappies do it and there is little anyone can do to stop it. Interpitation is a common tool of class warfare, and without it we will not win.
More reasonable question is whether these bias should be made more obvious or not. There was some talk over here several years ago whether news paper columnists should always mark their political tendencies at the end of their columns or not. This was because it is obvious that non-biased interpitation is more or less a fantasy. That is why the bias should be made public.
I personally think this kind of open approach is not only fair, but would propably increase the support of the left in general.

I don't really understand this question. In reality many aspects of history are already "modified". For example, we all know that Hitler killed about 6 million Jews. Many Nazis claim that number is inflated to reflect the interests of the jewish population. Same thing goes for Communism. Capitalists love to use the "millions of deaths" excuse to make us look bad.

My question is whether such "modifications" to suit our beliefs, whether it is done by Nazis, Communists or Liberals is moral or not?
Of course it's immoral. There's groups such as the nazis who twist it around as i've mentioned. History should be remembered as it is.

Of course we don't lie about history in order to suit our ideas. We may analyze history from a different perspective, but we aren't looking to distort the truth, we look for the real reasons that certain events/actions came about. Distorting history is what the bourgeois do.

history should be documented as it happened otherwise you would pardon nutjobs like the creationists that claim dinosaurs and humans lived together.
(if this post it a bit garbled i apologize i am drunk right now)
If it was changed it wouldnt be history, it would be just a story, so no, hell no!

but its worth pointing out that the reason why we shouldnt is because we will look like twats and if caught to be bullshiting we will lose so much credibility it aint even funny. "its immoral" is a shit argument.

If history doesn't support your politics you need to change your politics.
