I can't believe no one's mentioned James Jamerson, probably THE greatest bass player of all time. He was the bassist for the Funk Brothers, the group did the music for EVERY song/artist that came from Motown. Personally, I enjoy the upright/stand-up/double bass a lot more then the electric bass, mostly because you can get so many more sounds out of it.

I was trying to find a video of an incredible bassist I saw, he not only played the strings but the body of the bass as well and made the coolest sounds I've heard out of a bass. And now I'm pissed that I can't find it or remember his name...

I miss playing an upright bass :crying:
