Got your hopes up for a live stream right

Okay:

Villarreal Vs Arsenal
Manchester United Vs Porto

United should win, a draw i guess is likely for arsenal:

Porto and Villarreal are shockingly ahead after 10 minutes.

SHit, i just lost Barcas 4th goal, because fall asleep!:(
They CRUSHED Bayern, i have been watching until like 38 and they were destroying them, in every line, the attack trio Messi,Eto,Henry just do its magic today, and Messi has got even higher on m eyes.I didnt accepted that he is greater than Cristiano so far, but his game today, so far at least says something..He is definitely a great player.

Great football from Chelsea tonight.

Yeah, they started shakily, but after that they were the best they've been since mourinho left. They actually attacked with some style towards the end.

Liverpool are all but sunk, Bayern are out.

My predictions for the semis:

Chelsea
Barcelona
Manchester United (it'll be hard, but i still can't see past them)
Arsneal (Another tough game, but the away goal should clinch it)

Well after that all i can say is at least this will allow us to focus on the EPL title race :bored:

Seriously how good is Hiddink? I mean Chelsea at full strength have a world-class squad - on paper they certainly out-match liverpool, but on the pitch they have not lived up to their potential until recently this season. But Hiddink? Everything this guy touches turns to gold it's really amazing.

I disagree. Any idiot with an ounce of competence could get chelsea to play well. They have the strongest team in the world, they just needed a manager who could get them to play well.

Yes because you completely dominated yesterday, could have been 6 or 7 if you'd put away your chances. It wasn't just one big long ball up to Drogba that won you the game, there were plenty of oppurtunities for you weren't there?

Yeh, because Arsenal's talent developed naturally and has nothing to do with being a multi-million pound business. Chelsea are definatly the only football club to benefit from having alot of money. In fact I recall that the emirates was built brick by brick by loyal arsenal fans on a voluntary basis.

We don't have shit fans, we have one shit stand, the west stand. I don't know why you think this. Currently with all players fit our best eleven would look like this in my opinion:

----------------- Almunia -----------------
--- Sagna --- Toure --- Gallas --- Clichy ---
------------- Song --- Fabregas -----------
-- Walcott ------ Arshavin ------ Nasri -----
----------------- Eduardo ----------------

Offensively I think you will find it hard to think of a better team. Now defensively we need two signings: a holding midfielder and a tall centre back. Apart from this I can't see any reason for us not to mount a serious challenge.

I think we need a CB and a goalie these two perhaps:

http://news.dipag.com/pictures/lowres/20060405/Giorgio-Chiellini-0000006783.jpg
Georgio Chiellini of Juventus. Would cost a lot but he's certainly a world class player with a lot of height to make up for Toure's shortness.

http://www.pupia.tv/includes/tiny_mce/plugins/filemanager/files/fm/01_immagini/07_sport/calcio_italiano/frey.jpg

Sebastian Frey of Fiorentina. Top goalie from a smaller club! Or a bit of a gamble:

http://www.bwfc.co.uk/javaImages/4/cb/0,,1004%7E445188,00.jpg

Jaskelienen from Bolton. Consistantly excellent for Bolton, although now he might be a bit too old for the step up.

Arsenal have some good names on paper, but actually competing for the Premier League title is a whole other thing.

Regarding Jääskeläinen, I don't think it's wise to invest in an old goalie. If anything, I'd sooner go with Frey. The goal is not Arsenal's biggest concern, though. I'd get a somewhat faster and more secure centre back, a DM and a striker who is both strong in the air and a guarantee for goals (not Adebayor, apparently). Arshavin would make a good second striker just behind that forward.

This man can produce some of the ugliest demolition football on this side of the North Sea (and possibly the other side, too), but god damn, it worked...

...Wait, it fucking didn't! Playing defensively against 10 men just to be safe, gah! Tactically sensible, but things don't always go according to plan. Chelsea's playing style was the negation of Barça's football. But Barça's sheer luck turned it all around again, the negation of the negation so to speak. Barça turned their defeat into its opposite. Take that, Rosa Lichtenstein!

BTW did anyone see the anarcho syndicalsit flag in the man utd crowd at the emirates last night?
Yeah, with the "red army" banner. Probably more of an image thing, if anything. But it looked cool.

Hmm i disagree. The biggest gulf in quality between Manchest United and Arsenal is the back 5.
True. Still, it must be nice when you can comfortably put Tevez and Berbatov on the bench.

Although the refereeing was a farce, the outcome was a victory for enterprising football against negativity. The added bonus of the biggest cheat in the premiership getting his come uppance was brilliant karma!

As to the ref, it did appear that there is a justifiable claim that the ref did not wish to give a penalty to Chelsea at any cost, but was this a personal thing or was there some direction from FIFA? At what level would such pressure be put on a ref? If it was the case then the game is rotten to the core.

Redmau5

It was a farce. Chelsea had 4 penalty shouts declined, 2 of which were definatly penalties.

Hmmm.

The referee also dismissed Abidal for absolutely nothing, so it wasn't all 'woe is Chelsea'.

Most football fans (Chelsea fans aside, obviously) will be happier with a United-Barca final rather than a repeat of last year. At least we know there'll be some great football played in this final.

So what are peoples predictions for the Final? I think Man U will take it comfortably.

I think that Manchester United are probably favourites. I think they will play very negatively, though maybe not as negativity as Chelsea did in Spain, just like they did against Barca in the semi-final last year.

Bullshit. Barcelona may be good enough to take it round the mediocre defences in La Liga, but they fail miserably against anything resembling an organised defence.

Barcelona can't play nice football against a good defence. They just pass it about outside the area.

If this has been an Italian team stonewalling Messi and co then both you and the English tabloids would be delighted for Barca to win and slating the 'negative football' of the Italians

lol because of course it isn't when it's two English teams, this is the way Platini thinks and it's moronic.

Chelsea were cheated and although I really dislike Man Utd I hope they win the cup now, Barce did nothing in two matches and don't deserve a final...

It is really hard to break down a quality team that is hell bent on defence.

Certainly, this is absolutely true.

Chelsea were robbed.

The referring was poor. Piqué's handball was definitely a penalty, but then again Barcelona had a penalty not given in the first leg, and had a player sent off, who in my opinion shouldn't have been. The decisions didn't all go Barca's way.

It was misplaced placed because they don't deserve to be in the final. Did you even watch the game?

It was hardly a dismal final. I'm starting to think you actually don't like football, missed the final and are now humilating yourself repeatedly by making stupid statements.

How did they show they were the better team? They did fuck all for 180 minutes of play. Then got one goal in the dying minutes after like 4 penalty shouts.

I think the game has once again shown the superiority of the English league. Even though Barca went through Barca were dominated and they couldn't cope with Chelsea at times. Barca always look frail when they come up against English oppostion.

Some of the penalty shouts were just that, shouts. Though I feel that at least one and maybe two were good. As has already been mentioned Barca had a penalty not given in the first match, and had a man sent off for no reason.

Interesting enough neither of the posters I just quoted are from England. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that they can make objective football judgements without the fog of nationalism getting in the way.

It's sad for Chelsea, especially with the refereeing, but in the end, I also think that they had themselves to blame. If you play ultra-defensively against ten men, don't be surprised when things turn against you. It reminds me of a discussion I had with a comrade earlier, who said about Hiddink: he's a great manager, but he's never good for more than a semi-final...

As for the Man Utd - Chelsea final, I don't remember much of it last year. I was still in college at the time, and I think most of us were pretty drunk by then. I only remember that I managed to predict that Ronaldo would miss. But that wasn't really a great feat, you could see it from miles ahead. I also think Barça in the final will be better for football in the end. I think Man Utd will look at the semi-finals and try to tackle Barça in a different way than Chelsea tried.

Yes that is a good point, he made the same mistake in the WC with Australia. Facing a side down to 10-men he didn't push for the killer blow but for more defence... and then Chels... i mean australia went down to a late goal.

Yes, Man Utd are probably better, apart from them and Barca I think we have one of the best attacking teams in europe. As Killfacer said, the gulf is at the back. Our squad IS strong and I shall reitirate: If we shore up the defence then we will be a strong team next year. Also, with Arshavin anything is possible.

I think that Chelsea really showed where Arsenal stand yesterday.

I agree with this. Our defence is laughable, our strike force should be a little more clinical when Eduardo is back but there is certainly room for improvement. Our midfield is certainly too light weight aswell.
