zeronowhere - Durruti's calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd; no one fools Durruti.

Great man, one of the many thousands of brave and inspirational comrades who fought fascism and worked to build a better society in Spain.

Supposedly he was killed by friendly fire. (Although the anarchist propaganda effort spun the story to make it look like he was killed by the enemy.)

What an embarrasing way to go. I'd be pissed off if someone on my side shot me during a war. :cursing:

The most plausible theory (according to me) is that he simply shot himself when getting out of his car.

The rifles they had were very insecure and the slightest bump could make them go off. When getting out of his car, the top of the rifle pointed up towards his upper body and he bumped it in the floor of the car, and it went off. This is supported by eyewitnesses and the coroners report afterwards.

What a way to go for such a great man. :(

Durruti is inspirational. People talk about Che Guevara . . . Durruti deserves more fame and honour, IMHO.

What?

What?

The less known the person who did the deed then the greater said deed becomes. For example, an anonymous benifactor who donates millions to a charitable organisation seems a whole lot better than the guy who donated more but told everybody about it. Same goes for revolutionaries.

The same applies for the opposite: Hitler would have been even more terrible and fearful if he managed to kill those 6 million people without anybody knowng his identity or how he did it.

So,
Obscurity of identity amplifies great deeds.
It doesn't matter is 'great' means good or terrible.

Abel Paz came to the conclusion that it was most likely enemy fire, although no one will ever be able to say for certain.

Durutti is a hero of mine so much so that I have a tattoo of him.

A true hero for all revolutionaries. I heard the version of his death that he was shot by distant enemy fire and died on the way to the hospital. I like to believe it was that one.

He died, and that's the end of it, and speculating whilst none of you have any evidence either way is a little bit silly.

Durruti was, nevertheless, a good man. I definitely recommend Durruti: The People Armed to all.

I think he was going to crash a spaceship into a meeting by aload of evil dudes ready to take over the univerese but that managed to escape thanks to the help of some birdmen with axes and return to earth with this women he met on a plane.

Oh wait thats flash gorden.
