As the left spends much time talking about cute animals, here's Bambi

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/03_04/BambiDM_468x451.jpg

Nobody talk about venison. When I was 16, I had venison not knowing what it was and thinking it was gamey and salty beef, then someone says 'it's not beef it's venison: deer: bambi.'
If you can imagine telling a 10-y-o that he's eating his dog, that was my facial expression.

You know what lamb is, right?

In the ultimate expression of win one of my veggie mates is trying to get back into meat after being veggie nearly all his life and one of the first meats he "fell" to was venison. At least it shows he doesn't care so much about cute widdle animaws. A position I always find nonsensical, especially in the form quoted above.

But deer are in the league of kittens in terms of cuteness.

I can't believe this thread started with a cartoon of a deer, instead of a photo of an actual deer - it's not like those aren't cute enough.

No it won't, that thing can't even get through the front entrance with those ridiculous antlers.

Also, I tend to sleep with the lights on.

I've slaughtered a lot of those things in my life.

The bad thing about hunting them where I live is that you've got to gut and butcher them out fast, because any bears in the surrounding area will make a beeline towards your position once they hear the gunshot/catch the smell.

I know of a lot of people who have hit them with their car. That shit sucks.

Aren't deer massively overpopulated?

Those bears sounds sort of smarter than the average bear. Then again I don't really know that much about bears, as far as I know the bears in your area are retarded.

On that note, fucking bears:

They're fairly smart. Not geniuses or anything, but not stupid, either...

We have grizzlies where I live.

http://www.bear.org/website/images/stories/images/images-new/large_brown_bear.jpg

The worst part is that I live on an island, and the bears where I live swam over from the Alaskan mainland and have interbred to the point where there's now a race of gigantic superbears in the countryside. Once in a while they will wander into town to raid dumpsters; if you read the police blotter in my town, most of the cases involve cops chasing bears away.

Yeah, my town is eventful.

Yeah it was a freak thing(not the moose). There aren't that many Moose in Wisconsin but a young bull ended up in my area and my reservation is heavily forested and it ended up there and I saw it while deer hunting. I was like wtf! do I shoot it? But we called the DNR and let them know and they tranqualized it and relocated it.

Rjevan
3rd April 2009, 22:46
I'm glad you didn't shoot him. Somehow they seem very prone to wandering around, ending up elsewhere and not finding back. I've often read about this. But still, I like them. :D

Communist Theory
3rd April 2009, 23:02
The DNR told us it was because the older bigger bulls would push the younger bulls out of their territory and that the bull on my reservation was probally looking for its own territory

Communist Theory
3rd April 2009, 23:02
Even that young bull was like twice the size of a full grown deer.

Isn't it still illegal to shoot a griz due to the enviroloons?

I live in Bavaria, the only thing that crosses your way here are cows and the common "Schwoanshaxn":
http://kouryuchan.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/20080218_schweinshaxe.jpg

Deer can be seen in huge wildlife parks like the one in Lower Bavaria (but I coincidentally live in Upper Bavaria) but not in the small forests here (at least I haven't seen one yet) and moose don't live in the wild in Germany, they are only in big zoos here.

But why do you think I live in Russia? I actually would love to move there but under the current political circumstances I think it's the best to explore the situation first through studying there for a year. ;)

But to stick to the topic:

You're all posting pics of baby deer, haven't you guys heard of Reeve's muntjac (type of deer)? They're supposedly overtaking the native deer in England in population (some eccentric noble brought them to his estate from asia).

I want to get some! They're like dogs with hooves and badass little antlers!

These things are fully grown:

Where I live you can only shoot a grizzly bear if it's a DOLOP situation ("defense of life or property"), or if you pay out the ass to go out with a guide and shoot one in a hunt.

Even if it's a self defense situation, it's a big hassle. A state trooper has to come, and you have to "process" it (i.e. skin it out). It's a good thing that they leave us alone and we leave them alone.

Yeah that's good. My friends relatives live in Montana and they knew some people who had charges brought against them after they found the grizz in their backyard and took it out with some slugs. I don't know the details but that's crazy in my opinion, no tha I want them to go extinct or anything like that.
