I've been quite baffled by some people's (on this site) opinions on dictatorships/autocracies.

Is anyone supportive of the dictatorial and brutal stances of people such as Stalin and Hoxha?

I've seen quite a few images of Stalin and seen mention of Hoxha. How would these bloody and murderous dictatorships be in anyway good?

This is what I'd call grand failure.

I believe that you just opened up a can of worms.

The people who support dictatorships and brutality are a small minority on this forum. Most people here who "support Stalin" usually support his economic policies and other successes. Even those people are a minority.

Even I dont blatantly demonize an entire policy, as Stalin clearly had some good impacts too on SU. However one might question whether he was a real communist or not, and many people here do.

For more in-depth details on Soviet-Union (RIP) see the "history" sub-forum.

Funny you got a quote in your signature of Che Guevara who loved Stalin, he went to the Soviet union and laid a wreath on Stalin's grave.

I don't know if you are honestly interested in learning or interested in trolling with your 2 sentence post.

Well, usually people here are defending them from some less than true and other outright false claims about them, and pointing out that they did do positive things in the USSR and Albania. Not all Marxist-Leninists agree with every action they might have taken, but still agree with what they contributed to Marxist theory.

It should be pointed out that not everyone on Revleft supports Stalin, Hoxha, Mao...etc.

I know of Guevara's liking of Stalin, though Che's views on Stalin changed over time. I idolize Che, not because of his idols, but because of his ideals and determination.

And I have no intent of trolling the forums. I have always been fascinated by totalitarian leaders (have stacks of books on them) and was interested to see the leftist view on their leadership.

And as for the shortness of my post, I might explain this with a quote from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe:

"Less is More"

I don't support these people so don't worry. :p

As others have said before me, the people here who do are indeed a minority. Most people are generally Anti-Authoritarian/Anarchist.

Sadly I wouldn't say that.

You Marxists have us outnumbered on here combined, but we're the largest single tendency while there are more Marxists, you're divided.

Just making an observation.

Yea, I guess that's true. There's Trotskyists, Stalinists, etc. With Anarchists there seems to be just Anarchists.

But they call us sectarian!

We tend not to have too many differences. Mutualists, Individualists, Primmies, and "eco anarchists" are all pretty irrelavent and only exist for petit bourgeois teenagers, and collectivists are nonexistant.

I'm probably the sectarian one. I'm a Trot!
