Just Wondering... - Does anyone here play musical instrument

Does anyone here play musical instruments? I was just curious. I'm a big music freak, but not for any hardcore stuff or pop. I mostly like Andean music... Most people haven't heard of it. Also, Nueva Cancion is cool, kind of like contempory Andean + "protest music" if you look at that way. (It is similar to Nueva Trova from Cuba. Nueva Cancion is the Chilean side of it) Anyway, if anyone here plays an instrument could you please say? I'm sorry, but I'm kind of obssesed with music and I have to know...

I play guitar. I started playing it for like 3 months ago or something. I'm a big music freak myself too, I can't live a day without listening to good music. I like hard rock, grunge etc. etc.

they are Asocciate board levels in britain.. i dont know wot the equivelant levels are in other countries

I've played the cello since fourth grade. I also play some Andean flutes- the quena, and malta zampon~a (nothing to do with Malte! That's what the medium-sized Andean panpipe is called!). I really want to play the charango, though. It's a little ten-stringed lute/mandolin from the Andes with a body shaped like a guitar. I'm going to get one soon. The man who I'm buying it from knows the makers personally in Bolivia (in fact, he's visiting them right now). I have a question- Why do people get away from their instruments as they get older? My mother used to play guitar but she quit. Just recently (a few weeks ago), she brought it down from the attic. I can't play much; just some little melodies, no (half-decent) chords, and the part for a song called Kalimba. My sister might play clarinet, though, and if she does, it's mine!!! :biggrin: For all the people who call me Charanga- I understand where you get your reasoning... Charanga is actually a style of music from Cuba or someplace around there. I've never heard it, but if anyone knows anything about it could you please say?

Ive been playin bass G for nearly a year i can play bullet in the head, maggies farm, killin in the name of, year of the boomarage, mostly rage also im in a band, with a guitarist who is really good but we need a drummer if your from sheffield england you play drums and arent a phsyco or pidofile then talk to me!!!!!

I played bass in a punk rock band for three years, learned how to play lead guitar, a little bit here and there... 'tho nothing beats playing the bass...'coz you control the groove, all the time...

I've been playing guitar for about 6-7 years.
I also occasionally play bass if i have to.

I mostly play/make my own stuff, and used to buy 'guitar techniques' and liked to play the hard stuff in it.

Ive played bass for about 2 months now. Im self-taught and Im in the process of learning "Crazy Train" by Ozzy. I could play a few tunes by Tool, Madball and a few other groups.

I've played drums for 5 years and guitar and bass for 2 years each. I picked up guitar because I'm a total grunge puppy. Nobody here can like grunge more than me. I also like classic rock, heavy metal, death metal, speed metal, black metal, punk,etc..etc..... anything that's heavy and gets you rockin.

now what I wanna know, of those of you who play an instrument AND like rap, (ugh....horrible "music" ) what made you decide to learn to play. Actually that question is directed to everyone. what made you want to play an instrument and why did you choose THAT instrument? come on. tell me guys. I'm dyin over here!

I play the piano, and i'm gonna start playing the guitar next year.

I play guitar because when i was young, my parents had this spanish guitar, from when my mother was young (the 60's eheh) and i began playing around with it a bit, later i got some books from the library and started teaching myself how to read notes etc... it didn't really turn out well, (i was like 8, couldnt understand jack shit from those 'teach yourself' books) so my parents told me that if i was serious they would buy a new good guitar for me and send me to lessons.
After about 3 years i quit lessons and nowadays i play in a band with a few other guys, quite fun :)
